The article discusses the necessity to implement effective models for inclusive education in the field of early language teaching. It reviews some good practices in other European countries which apply the Narrative Format model for inclusion of children with delays in their cognitive development, or children from migrant or different socio-economic background into the language activities, undertaken in class. Results from a case study in Bulgaria are presented and discussed.

The active political career of the Thracian king Kotys transformed him into one of the remarkable individuals of the Early Hellenistic world. However, authors of various genres and from different historical periods have focused their attention not on his military and political activities, but rather on his character and on the dramatic end of his life. The reason for the long-lasting interest in his personality stems from the fact that Kotys’ name entered literary circulation in the intellectual context of the 4th century BC, when the views on the moral tenets of political life became a maxim for many creative men of letters and political figures. An important evolution in the 4th century BC literature can be seen in the tendency among many authors of prose to create and use written texts educating in aristocratic values as the principal paideia instrument for the educated elite. Such were also the goals pursued by the authors of historical works, notably Xenophon, Ephoros and Theopompos. King Kotys was present precisely among the moral paradigms of Theopompos’ History of Philip. That had decisive consequences for the negative image with which he remained in history. The devastating pamphlet against him presents one of the ways in which Theopompos delivers his moral instructions while following the main line in his works: shedding light on the links between imperialism and moral degradation.

The article discusses the features of mastering phraseological units of the native (Russian) language by the seven years of age children. In the studies, conducted under the guidance of the author, the volume of the phraseological dictionary of children was studied, as well as the perception of phraseological units in fiction and the speech of the surrounding adults by the senior preschool children.

Migracje kobiet – strategie odzyskiwania głosu i ciała w twórczości literackiej Polek mieszkających w Wielkiej Brytanii i Irlandii

Kronenberg examines literary works by Polish women in the UK and Ireland after 2004. Her critical perspective highlights the cultural, broadly socio-political context, including the question of gender, as modelled by Inga Iwasiów, Maria Janion, Agnieszka Mrozik, Przemysław Czapliński and Ursula Chowaniec; Kronenberg also draws on studies on subjectivity in women’s autobiographical practices by Sidonie Smith, Julia Watson and others. She presents emigre women writers’ strategies of regaining their voice and body by isolating the characteristic traits of this type of writing, such as social engagement, awareness of discriminatory mechanisms, or the potential for transgression and revendication.

Examining twenty novels and short story collections published between 2006 and 2013, Nowacki outlines the developments of Polish literary prose on economic migration after Poland’s accession to the EU on 1 May 2004. The central question is about artistic and communicative failure: none of the works examined have enjoyed wider success. Nowacki concludes with a working typology of prose concerning Poles on the Isles produced in the first two decades of the twenty-first century.

Явление калькирования в польском говоре жителей деревни Веpшина в Сибири

Vershina is a Polish village in Siberia inhabited by Polish settlers who moved there of their own volition. The migration was a result of attempt of improving the economic standards of their living. As they reach the territory of the Russian nation, Polish settlers started the process of gradual language assimilation. As a result, they create a unique Polish dialect that is used up to nowadays. Polish dialect contains linguistic calques, borrowings, hybrids and more examples of linguistic interference. The article presents the topic of linguistic calques, grouping them into five groups (structural, semantic, phraseological, morphological and syntactical) and gives examples of each of the group. It shows how big is the influence of the Russian language on the Polish dialect.

The paper takes a closer look at the semantics of the Russian two-place connective raz… to [if; once; since]. This connective is commonly thought to be a mere variant of the conjunction raz, with the same meanings assigned to it. We attempt to show that the main difference between the two connectives lies in the semantic charge of the element to as it serves to emphasize the implicative relation conveyed by raz. To that end, we employ a contrastive approach and use data from Russian and French. For this pair of languages, raz… to is found to be language-specific.

The reign Charles of Great introduced Latin as a universal language of scholars, so-called lingua franca. Latin kept this position until mid-19th century, because national languages got preference. However, Latin’s domain has lasted until today in certain fields of study in turns of terminology. This paper focuses on the phenomenon of observations across natural and social-economic circumstances. The term observationes originated in Medieval time and it’s derived from Latin verb observare – to observe, to monitor, to keep, to maintain. This labeling can be found in the area of philosophy, secular and monastic life, astronomics remarks, travel reports and natural sciences including medicine as well as law.

L’INTERTEXTUALITÉ DANS L’ADAPTATION CINÉMATOGRAPHIQUE DE L’ŒUVRE LITTÉRAIRE

In this article I intend to approach various aspects concerning the “translation” of literatures into film and the variety of transformation requested by this kind of modern adaptation. The first part of the article intends to give an answer to questions such as how can texts change into filmic image, what makes fiction become film, how could one make the translation from words to image? In a second section of my paper I will focus on the controversies raised by the relations established between literatures and cinematography, with a focus on the issue of fidelity of the cinematic expression to the literary source, the restriction the concept of fidelity supposes and the power of innovation of the cinematography.

Chaos i ciemność. Kilka uwag o Zagadce Kaspara Hausera Wernera Herzoga

“The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser” by Werner Herzog could be treated as an allegory of the human condition, akin to the vision of writers belonging to the broadly defined existentialist tradition – as far as the world vision and the conception of man, presented in the movie, are concerned. As the aforementioned allegory we can treat life history of the movie’s protagonist, Kaspar Hauser, the child of nature, thrown by an unknown dark force into completely incomprehensible for him human civilization, into the world of an absent – or negated – Absolute. It’s best formulaic description – “the empty Transcendence” – we can find in the poetry of Bolesław Leśmian. To some extent Herzog’s work could be treated as an evocation of so understood transcendence and as an expression of the existentialists’ diagnosis of our human fate: the man comes out of darkness and in the darkness he finds his ultimate destination.

Models of Digital Book Trailers and Applications of Digital Storytelling Approach for Educational Purposes

Растения с названием Адамова глава в русских рукописных травниках

Adamova glava - one of the most famous plant in Russian mythological herbarium. Plant name Adamova glava (and similar variants) is fixed in the Russian manuscripted herbals from the beginning of the XVIII century. The text analysis shows that it is not a single plant, but several different ones. The purpose of this report - to show what kinds of articles in herbals related to plant name Adamova glava and what folkloric motifs correspond with it. We identified five types of articles and the following groups of motives: a) the Rituals of Herb-Gathering: on the eve of Midsummer Day at dawn, to tear through silver and gold / with cross, with prayers; b) Nomination: plant is the king of all herbs; c) The functions of the plant: from porcha smertnaia, infertility, for favor heads; to cause water and air demons; assistance in the construction of dams, tall buildings; rapid healing of wounds; g) etiological legend: the plant appeared on the Jordan River under the holy tree cypress.

The study aims to investigate the processing of four simultaneously activated languages, that is, Polish as L1, German as L2, English as L3 and Swedish as L4, in written L4 production. Errors which can be attributed to negative transfer and interference, as well as the participants’ ability to exploit the similarities between the languages, which reflects their language awareness, are analysed here. As the results show, all the four languages are indeed activated and participate in the processing, but at the same time a lot of intralingual interaction between Swedish words and structures can be observed, and despite the language distance, the native language also remains an important source of transfer and interference.

LIFE AFTER PEOPLE: ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE AND THE STRUCTURES OF THE POST-HUMAN GLOBAL IMAGINARY

Life after People: Zombie Apocalypse and the Structures of the Post-Human Global Imaginary. The paper examines post-humanist representations in Anglo-American film productions from a perspective informed by global and hypermodern cultural theory. It is an enquiry into aspects of dystopian sensibility featuring in global cinema, which are seen as manifest in the prolific zombie genre of the post-apocalyptic strand. It is premised on the assumption that global society is endemically marred by a catastrophic horizon of expectation, whose most congenial form of expression is dystopia, a genre on the rise worldwide, especially productive in Anglo-American cinematic practice. Drawing on global cultural theory, I seek to narrow down the enquiry into dystopian modes and bring the zombie dominant to bear on what I construe as the post-apocalyptic imagination of globality.

Dystopic Reconfigurations of Corporate America: Margaret Atwood’s “The Heart Goes Last”. One of Margaret Atwood’s dystopic novels, The Heart Goes Last is an intricate examination of human nature, the precariousness of love, free will, the roots of social evil and the potential dangers of excessive institutional power. Grounded in an examination of Atwood’s text, this paper aims to analyze the techniques through which the image of “corporate America” is re-configured in a nightmarish setting where the fight for power, money and control negatively re-positions the ethical limits of humanity.
