The application of generative phonology in Slavic research is still a deplorably rare phenomenon. Attempts have definitely been made to change the situation both by Slavic and non-Slavic scholars (Jakobson, Zhuravlev, Andersen etc.), the most remarkable of which is without doubt B. Velcheva’s pioneering monograph Proto-Slavic and Old Bulgarian Sound Changes. In her book the Bulgarian specialist convincingly proves the applicability of generative phonological methods for diachronic problems, and it cannot be denied that the monograph is a methodological milestone in the history of Slavic diachronic studies.

The Anatomical Latin-Bulgarian Dictionary is intended for university students of medicine, dental medicine, pharmacy, biology and college students, lecturers and specialists who need a reference book in translating anatomical nomenclature. In this paper I investigate the properties of the future in Dialectal Modern Greek spoken in Bulgaria. Even though future has been described before, the analysis of its actual dialect use remains interesting for the Sparchbund and more generaly for typology. I will base my analysis on the aspectual model of Desclés [1980, 1990] & Guentchéva [1990] in order to explain the double aspect (perfective and imperfective) and its particular uses in Dialectal Modern Greek. I will argue that the use of future-referring periphrases (as θ па) provides evidence for the relation between future and modality and I will try to explain the link between future on the one hand, and possibility, probability and volition, on the other hand.

The article offers a brief characterization of evidentiality in Bulgarian which, in addition to lexical and syntactic expression, finds morphological expression primarily, and of evidentiality in Polish. Lexical and syntactic markers predominate there and only one construction ma + infinitive in one of its uses approaches the Bulgarian renarrated forms. Two types of sociolinguistic changes in indirect speech, noticeable in the Bulgarian press after 1989, are also discussed: changes in the choice of forms in reports from abroad and in rendering statements made by officials at home.

The article discusses social and personal factors which determine the choice of honorific forms in Japanese university clubs. Analysis is based on questionnaire data. The results imply a certain hierarchy of social and personal factors, as well as the existence of group specific and activity-specific patterns. The most important factor which determines honorific choice is addressee’s in-group history, followed by psychological closeness of both communicators, and addressee’s sex (with only a minimum influence). Culture-activity groups show a more complicated factor-output pattern as compared to athletic groups.

This paper attempts to provide an overview of new motifs, protagonists and concepts in literary works conceived as aesthetic representations of various models of social withdrawal and isolation. To illuminate the social context, sustainable lifestyles and trends that emerged at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries (homing, cocooning, hikikomori syndrome) were used and interpreted as counter-designs to the social changes brought about by globalisation and digitalisation.

The article examines the quite extraordinary phenomenon of literary texts, that limit themselves, like anagrams or palindromes. Limited texts are often reduced to their playful appearance, while they have a close relation to experimental practises as well. Experiments as well as limited literature construct their objects of research within a manipulated environment. This self-limiting literary expression is specified with Deleuze’ and Guattari’s concept of a “minor” literature, by pointing out the defamiliarization of the text production and the irritation of linguistic automatisms initiated by limitations. Strongly restricted literaturę allows due to its limitation only, the release of new linguistic possibilities and insights, which is further demonstrated with a concluding example.
