This article analyzes the concept of Übermensch as it can be observed in the works of the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche and the Russian writer F.M. Dostoevsky. The introduction presents the historical, religious and political backgrounds of the two writers in connection with the concept of the Übermensch. The article focuses on the undeniable connection between Nietzsche’s theorized ideas and Dostoevsky’s well-known characters, while simultaneously underlining the resemblances and differences between their visions of the same concept.

Dificultăți ale traducerii în limba română a povestirii ,,Красный цветок ’’(Floarea roșie) de Vsevolod Garșin

Vsevolod Garshin is one of the most prominent prose writers of the second half of the 19th century. He is characterized through pessimism, which permeates his work and reflects the social malice, indicative of those times. The article presents an analysis of the translation process of one of his most meaningful stories `The Red Flower` into Romanian, revealing the hardships the translators had to face. The novelty of the work derives from the fact that the selected story has not been previously translated into Romanian, which enables readers to get acquainted with the unrenowned work of the Russian writer. Moreover, one of the goals of this work is to draw attention to the wonderful artistic heritage of Vsevolod Mikhailovich Garshin, which may contribute in the future to the surfacing in print of a collection of his works translated into Romanian.

Evoluția baletului rus – de la Kirov la Mariinski

This article focuses on the evolution of Russian ballet and the role of the French choreographer Marius Petipa in the establishment of the Mariinsky Theatre legacy. The article concentrates on how the rigorous norms of classical dance have been transcended throughout the evolution of this art in Imperial Russia, answering the following question: why did the art of ballet flourish into its classical perfection in Imperial Russia, even though it took its origins from the Italian Renaissance and its founders were French? The mere transposition of ballet from its starting point (France) to Russia is an act of creation in itself. Over the past decades, Russians have emphasized the astonishing classical perfection with unsurpassed discipline, hard work, intelligence, elegance, wisdom, and assumed like no one else in history the physical as well as the emotional demands of the classical ballet.

,,Să ucizi dragonul", de Evgheni Schwartz – basm pentru toate vârstele și abecedar politic contemporan

The purpose of this article is to demonstrate to which extent a playwright had to use Aesopian language in order to elude the powerful Stalinist censorship. Evgeni Schwartz’s To Kill a Dragon provides a good text for the intended analysis, as it abounds in highly risky anti-stalinist and anti-totalitarian political allusions disguised as an anti-fascist critique. Because of the play’s complexity, the present study places particular emphasis on the explanation of the historical context, i.e. the censorship phenomenon and the importance of playwriting for children during the Stalinist era. Finally, the article focuses on the antitotalitarian character of the play, along with its implications and ramifications in contemporary culture.

Despre Cehov, Vișniec și pescărușii eșuați

This article studies the dramatic masterpieces The Seagull by A.P. Chekhov and About the Fragility of Stuffed Seagulls by M. Vişniec, the latter denoting concurrently an absurd meditation and the advancement from Chekhov’s classic plays, popular during The October Revolution. The current analysis proves that not only is Vișniec’s work a simple extension of Chekhov’s plays, but also the paraphrase from within the new temporal coordinate system.

The following article focuses on the innovative nature of Leninism, understood as an ideology originating in Marxism and developed in opposition to its fundamental principles, both in itself and as reflected in the silent film “Strike”, directed by Sergei Eisenstein in 1924. Drawing on the contributions made in the field of Marxist/Communist studies by such authors as Stéphane Courtois or Antonio Gramsci, the article tries to uncover the common thread between the understanding of the role of the working class in Lenin (the working class seen as the messianic force of change) and the reflection of this understanding in Eisenstein’s debut film.

Trei cazuri de reprezentare a dedublării la Chamisso, Dostoievski și Saramago

The literary convention of the double is rooted in the theories of the German philosophy. The concept of the double has been analyzed from different perspectives, such as psychological, religious, sociological or mythological perspective. This paradoxical figure appears as an instrument of both liberation and oppression. This article analyses the literary image of the double and discusses the symbolism of the main characters and scenes, who fell under the auspices of duality, focusing on the works of Adelbert von Chamisso, Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky and Jose Saramago. The purpose of this paper is twofold: firstly, to draw up a comparison between the three works, which belong to different literary movements and secondly, to find the common elements and characteristics of the analyzed works.

,,Idiotul’’. O actualizare în cinematografie

The title suggests that the method used for the preparation of the essay is comparative analysis between a well-known literary work, „The Fool” written by Dostoievsky and a cinematic work launched quite recently, „The Fool” („Durak” in Russian) by Yuriy Bykov. The purpose of the analysis is to present in a measure more or less emphasized the prototype of the „christian hero” embodied by both of the protagonists, to emphasize the disagreements with which they inevitably struggle and to underline the importance of the role played by this type of character all over the age and society.

Problematica identitară a unui narcoman în ,,Romanul cocainei’’ de Mihail Agheev

Novel with cocaine follows the experiences of a drug addict, Vladimir Maslennikov. The main character is a troubled student who obsessively examines his life under the magnifying glass of extreme lucidity. Vladimir Maslennikov descends into the underground of his conscience to understand the failure of his existence and uses cocaine to create a new deviant personality. This alter-ego is based on pathological behavior and used as a coping mechanism towards reality’s endeavors to undertake his true ego. The purpose of this study is to identify what happens within the identity matrix in the case of drug addiction and how the character's identity changes under the influence of narcotics.

Literary History Between Russian Formalism and Czech Structuralism

The aim of my study is to compare the views of the concept of literary history by Russian formalists and Prague structuralists, two signifi cant literary theoretical schools of the beginning of the twentieth century. In spite of the fact that both schools are primarily considered literary theoretical, their particular members were involved in a whole scale literary critical investigation – including the area of literary historical inquiry. Indeed, slowely but surely both respective schools became more emancipated in their claim of a general validity of their originally literary theoretical ideas and started to widen the scope of their scholarly interest towards encompassing the concept of literary history. The formalists originally almost dismissed literary history as an unwelcome heritage of the old approach and the structuralists overlooked it due to their initial emphasis on synchronic aspects of literature.

In this article, the use of the metaphor of "nature" in Russian literary works of the early 19th century is analysed from a linguistic and cultural point of view. The aim of this study is to identify the characteristics and meanings of "nature" in the literary works of this period from a linguistic and cultural point of view and, at the same time to show the metaphorical potential of "nature". The subject of this article is the characteristics and meanings of "nature" as a metaphor. As an example for the study, the literary works of Russian writers such as M. Yu. Lermontov and I. S. Turgenev, who lived at the beginning of the 19th century, were taken. The methodological basis of the study is the ideas and opinions of leading linguists of our time, such as N. D. Arutyunova, L. V. Balashova, A. N. Baranov, M. Black and J. Lakoff, whose works are devoted to the study of metaphor. Using a linguistic and cultural approach through the cooperation of "linguistic, cultural and cognitive" has led to the discovery of the metaphorical potential of nature. Findings of the study; It can be a starting point to reveal the literal component of the metaphorical potential of nature in Russian literary works of the early 19th century and to create intercultural connections both by increasing the understanding of intercultural figurative meanings in direct communication and by reducing the level of error in translations. The material of the study is the novel by Mikhail Yuryevich Lermontov, "A Hero of Our Time" (1838-1840), and the novel by Ivan Sergeevich Turgenev, "Rudin" (1855).

Romanul rus din secolul al XIX-lea și dinamica literaturii argentiniene. Studiu de caz: ,,Tunelul’’ de Ernesto Sábato

With the publishing of the novel ’’The Tunnel’’ (1948), Sábato became the first Latin American writer to gain popularity in Europe and the most important representative of Existentialism in Latin America. In this paper we investigate the intertextual ties between Sábato’s text and important Russian novels of the XIX century as a means to highlight their original and innovative assimilation into the Argentinian literary tradition and the role they played in the creation of this geographical and cultural area’s literary canon. This investigation intends to systemize the variety of Russian literary models in the novel ’’The Tunnel’’.
