Culture is a significant phenomenon that combines all the characteristics of a society, including lifestyles, traditions, and beliefs. People first increase their cultural awareness by interacting with their families and immediate environment. With the start of formal education, cultural transmission continues to progress systematically through school life. The most critical executors of this progress are teachers who implement the curriculum published by the Ministry of National Education. The study, conducted with a qualitative research approach, aims to determine the status of middle school music lessons in culture transfer. Data were collected through interview and document analysis techniques. In this context, the opinions of twenty music teachers teaching at the secondary school level were consulted, and the curriculum and textbooks were examined. The opinions obtained were analyzed and explained according to the determined themes. As a result of the findings, it was concluded that the curriculum needed to be revised to transfer cultural elements. It was determined that the number of exemplifications, including cultural elements, in the textbooks needed to be higher and that teachers needed to have more in conveying cultural elements. It was concluded that students' attitudes towards cultural items needed to be sufficient. Suggestions were made regarding the music lesson and curriculum in the transfer of cultural elements.
