Uvođenje medijske i informacijske pismenosti u obrazovni sistem - procjena kompetencija nastavnika za podučavanje medijske i informacijske pismenosti u Kantonu Sarajevo

The article presents the results of the study of teacher competences in media and information literacy in the Sarajevo Canton as the starting point for creation of policies and strategies for development of MIL in formal primary and secondary education. In this context, media and information literacy are seen as complementary and inseparable areas, and the interpretation of their importance and content is based on UNESCO’s integrative approach. The article argues that media and information literacy is a set of knowledge, skills and competences that every individual in the contemporary world needs to competently participate in public/social life, which, as such, must be developed (also) through formal education. To that end we present the assessment of the competences of teachers in the Sarajevo Canton for implementing MIL in their teaching.

Learning to be Human: From Philosophical Problem to Humanity Development Metaphor

Disaggregated Government Expenditure and Education Enrolment in Nigeria

This study investigates how disaggregated government expenditure has an impact on education enrolment in Nigeria within the period 1980 and 2017. The Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) was used for the parameters estimation. From the findings, in the short-run, capital expenditure components show a negative insignificant impact on education enrolment except for capital expenditure on social service which was insignificantly positive. For recurrent expenditure model, in the short-run, all the expenditure components had a negative impact on education enrolment, but only recurrent expenditure on economic services was significant. In the long-run, while recurrent expenditure influenced education enrolment negatively, others were positive but insignificant. Capital expenditure model error correction test confirms that the components do not correct education enrolment back to equilibrium in the long-run. For recurrent expenditure, the result reveals that the components correct 0.006% of education enrolment back to equilibrium in the long-run.

Insights into the study abroad experience of social education students at Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic

The internationalisation of higher education leads to benefits for students and universities. Part of the internationalisation process is student mobility through study abroad programmes such as Erasmus. This paper reflects on the study abroad process and experience for three Czech social pedagogy students from the faculty of education at Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic. The results of this small-scale study, collected through a questionnaire and a follow-up interview, showed that the study participants had similar motivations and experiences despite the different host institutions and study programmes. Furthermore, care needs to be taken when selecting a host university programme and ensuring that there are straightforward activities instructors can make use of to better prepare outgoing students. These findings lead to suggestions for classroom teachers as to how they can, to some degree, 'internationalise' their lessons, and how universities can encourage more students to take part in study abroad programmes, and to questions for future research.

Environmental literacy of pupils and its investigation in the Czech Republic

Environmental literacy is a concept consisting of knowledge, attitudes, sensitivity and behaviour. In this text we present a pilot study of a research tool focused on measuring the environmental literacy of ISCED 2 pupils. Through the study we measured the relationship between environmental literacy and selected variables (gender, grade and leisure activities). The target group consisted of pupils in the 6th to 9th grades of lower secondary schools, and the total number of respondents was 467. The inner consistency (Cronbach´s α) of all tool scales (knowledge, attitudes, sensitivity, behaviour) reached acceptable values in the range of .71–.79. Spearman’s correlation showed a statistically significant relationship mainly among the scales of attitudes, sensitivity and behaviour. Significant correlation coefficient values ranged from < .44 to.65 >. Significant differences appeared between boys and girls in regard to attitudes, sensitivity and behaviour scales, where girls reached higher scores. Girls showed more pro-environmental attitudes, sensitivity and behaviour than boys. It was also found that the pupils' environmental knowledge increases with age. However, this does not apply to the scales of attitudes, sensitivity and behaviour. There was a high correlation between environmental literacy (excluding knowledge) and the leisure activities of pupils (outdoor activities, ICT, hobbies and sport). Leisure activities in combination with age can be considered essential determinants of environmental literacy, e.g. they predict 33% of the variability in the sensitivity scale.

Teaching the learners with a migrant background – teachers’ perspectives

As a result of the growing number of migrants in Poland, schools accept increasing numbers of learners with a migrant background (immigrants and reimmigrants), and they are not always able to successfully help the newcomers in their integration. Therefore, it is necessary to undertake specific support activities. Related shortcomings result in many school failures among many migrants, their dropping out of schools and as a result gaining little if any qualifications. At the same time, the researchers indicated the role of teachers in the education of children with a migrant background. The level of their training and the quality of the support they can offer determines the success or lack thereof of their pupils. In the article the researchers discussed a study (Stage 2 in particular) the purpose of which was to diagnose and analyse the needs of the education community in terms of migrant education and integration. The following question was the starting point: What do schools need to be able to better teach and integrate learners with a migrant background? The study of needs organised as a focus group gathered teachers teaching pupils with a migrant background with various levels of training, and a headmaster of a school attended by migrants. The analysis of the collected material indicated three areas where teachers need particular support: systemic organisation of accepting and educating learners with a migrant background, access to materials, and the ability to participate in additional training courses and acquire new competences.

EXAMINING THE IMPACT OF INDUSTRY 4.0 ON EDUCATION

Industry 4.0 is the concept that has been on the agenda for nearly a decade; but other than those closely involved in the issue, it is a little-known concept yet. Industry 4.0, which expresses the Fourth Industrial Revolution, promises to make production with smart factories and digital Technologies with almost no need for labor. Nowadays, when the technology develops quite fast, people's daily life styles change. In occupational groups where technology use is intense, there are differentiations in the way people express their feelings not only in business or academic life but also in private life. In order to capture Industry 4.0, it is necessary to design, develop and produce technology in every field. However, in addition to production, it is important to train qualified labor force who can use this new technology. Taking into account that daily ordinary work will be undertaken by artificial intelligence initially, it is better to understand that education is not limited to school for individuals who want to continue to play a role in economic life, and the importance of continuing to learn in different fields for individuals who continue to study. Exactly at this point, the education sector appears as an area that needs to be studied in detail under Industry 4.0. Within the scope of Industry 4.0, which is also very important besides the knowledge, an education policy which gives importance to creative thought and which is based on lifelong learning should be designed. In this study, it is aimed to discuss the effects and consequences of Industry 4.0 in the education sector. Fictional analysis and case study were used as the method of study.

Evaluation of three visual models for the greatest common factor and the least common multiple

In the teaching and learning of concepts of the greatest common factor and the least common multiplier educators and pupils are often focused in presenting and following the procedure – how to determine and calculate the greatest common factor (GCF) and the least common multiplier (LCM) of given numbers. Usually, factoring schema is used to represent this procedure. In a such manner, only procedural knowledge can be developed.The aim of this paper is to examine if in-service and pre-service mathematics teachers are able to propose, recognize and justify didactical models that may foster pupils’ conceptual knowledge of GCF and LCM. Three visual models for GCF and LCM: rectangle model, line segment model and Venn diagram model have been developed and presented independently to two selected groups. The first group was consisted of 18 in-service mathematics teachers that have experience in teaching mathematics in middle school. There were 16 seniors of baccalaureate program for teachers of mathematics and IT in the second group. Both groups were asked to determine the purpose of observed models, to explain mathematics underlying models and to propose and justify similar models if possible.Results show that all participants in a study are focused on developing procedural knowledge: only two in-service and one pre-service teacher provided models of GCF and LCM by themselves. On the other hand, after they observed models, all participants were able to justify the Venn diagram model, all in-service and the majority of pre-service teachers justified rectangle and line segment model. All participants think that each model can help build conceptual knowledge: all of 18 in-service and 12 pre-service teachers would use models exclusively before showing the procedure of finding out GCF and LCM of two given numbers; 2 pre-service teachers would use different models in different teaching situations, and 2 in-service an 2 pre-service teachers would use models exclusively after showing the procedure of finding out GCF and LCM of given numbers.

These were universities that had counted on mobility and firm internationalization since the Middle Ages, and which strongly supported male religious orders (especially Franciscans, Dominicans and, in the modern period, Jesuits). The quality of education was directly related to the ability of the university to function in a more cultural environment of intense exchange. It was the universities that built the phenomenon of humanism in the modern sense.

Development of geographic information system in education by using the rational unified process in Bandung

Education must be obtained and guaranteed by the government with quality and equitable services in all regions in Indonesia. Geographic information systems become one of the solutions that can help the process of equitable education and help the government take appropriate actions. This study discusses how the development of a website-based geographic information system that can be used to map the distribution of educational data in the city of Bandung using the Rational Unified Process (RUP) and Unified Modeling Language (UML) methods for system modeling. The process of making maps in this study uses Quantum GIS (QGIS) software with database storage using PostgreSQL. The output target of this study is in the form of a geographic information system website mapping educational data distribution in the city of Bandung. This website is created as a graphic summary dashboard based on the spatial field of education so that the public and government can easily draw conclusions about the distribution of existing education such as knowing the balance of the number of schools, teachers and students in an area that can affect the quality of teaching and learning activities in schools and the quality of education in that area.

CUMHURBAŞKANLIĞI YILLIK PROGRAMLARINDA TÜRKİYE’NİN ÖĞRETMEN YETİŞTİRME ve GELİŞTİRME POLİTİKALARI

In this study, it is aimed to examine which policies are for the training and development of teachers in the Presidential Annual Programs. Therefore, the research was prepared based on case study which is a qualitative method. The data source of the research is Presidential programs for 2019 and 2020. In the data analysis, content analysis method was utilized. According to the results obtained from research findings, both Presidential Annual Programs introduced in 2019 and 2020 concluded that a number of policies and measures were presented to improve the qualifications of teachers and for teacher employment. When the findings are analyzed, it can be said that in annual programs, policies for the development of teachers in the profession are in the majority.

The aim of this research is to determine the relationships between educational planning proficiency perceptions and time management skills of classroom teachers. The study group of this research carried out in the screening model consists of 96 classroom teachers working in primary schools in Akyazı district of Sakarya in the fall term of 2018-2019 academic year. The data of the research were collected by using “Educational Planning Proficiency Perceptions Scale” and “Time Management Inventory” measurement tools. As a result of the research, educational planning proficiency perceptions of classroom teachers have been found to be in the “I am proficient” range, the perceptions of time management to be in the “Moderate” level; a moderately significant positive relationship has been found between educational planning proficiency perceptions of classroom teachers and Time Planning dimension perceptions which is one of the subdimensions of the time management scale, Time Attitudes dimension perceptions, and a moderately significant negative relationship has been found between between the perceptions of Time Spenders dimension.

Contemporary society in all segments of human action requires continuous innovation, change,refinement. Teaching process innovation is a topic that continues to attract the attention of teachers and teaching theorists. Innovation and modern education must start with teachers. Using words and examples, teachers can teach their students that they can each build their knowledge and take responsibility for their lives. To achieve this, teachers must be given space to identify pedagogical needs, create new practices, measure results, and make their own decisions. The paper looks at the problems faced in teaching practice, which addresses the under utilization of teaching capacities in the processes of innovation of teaching and learning, as well as proposes possible actions to overcome them. It also emphasizes the indispensable role of teachers in all segments of teaching practice innovation.

Temeljni faktori socijalizacije i socio-emocionalna prilagodba učenika u obrazovnom kontekstu

Educational institutions should be obligated to continually assess an individual’s achievements and potentials. It is important to consider all aspects of children and adolescents functioning in school context. Our education system prioritises school achievement, thus most of planned and realized activities in educational institutions are focused on the cognitive development and fostering academic adjustment. Academic adjustment of students refers to opportunities to successfully carry out tasks and meet the expectations mostly defined by the curricula. It is usually monitored through the students’ performance and is measured by grades. However, social and emotional adjustment is also an important aspect of student functioning in school context, but it is often overlooked considering the education policies in elementary and high schools. Social processes and the child and adolescent functioning dynamics in school context hugely influence their social awareness and social development. Students’ emotional functioning plays an important role in the context of adjusting students in all aspects as well. Emotional difficulties, mostly manifested through psychological distress, anxiety, psychosomatic disorders or depression symptoms, are considered to be one of the most significant issues that obstruct the adjustment and can extensively compromise one’s health. Therefore, education system and its institutions should take more responsibility and enable fostering and monitoring individual’s emotional and social development as well as their personal and social competence. The lack of systemic solutions, which will offer long-term positive effects for improving children’s and adolescent’s mental health, may result in an increasing educational crisis. It is necessary to point out the factors that are potentially jeopardizing emotional and social adjustment of students in school context from the experts’ perspective. Furthermore, it is important to indicate how to prevent and solve the students’ difficulties in all aspects of functioning in school context. Parents, teachers, and peers represent the fundamental factors of socialization that determine the quality of students’ adjustment in the educational context.

Obrazovni efekti istraživačkog rada učenika u nastavi Moje okoline

Research work of pupils is a new educational and upbringing strategy as well as a new opportunity to achieve more effective education and continuous innovation that ensures maximum student engagement and their active approach to the learning process. An analysis of the theoretical settings and empirical research of pupils work within this study shows numerous didactic-methodical values in the field of developing and stimulating higher thought processes, initiative, creativity, motivation and other pupils qualities. The total sample of the survey consisted of 89 pupils from four fourth-grade class. After equalization, experimental and control groups were consituted. In the experimental group, the research method was introduced as an experimental factor, while in the control group traditional teaching methods were applied.The entire experimental research was carried out in the 2019/20 school year. Firstly, a review and analysis of theoretical models and empirical research in the field to which the research project belongs were performed. This article contribute to impact determination of the application of student research work in teaching My environment on educational effects.

Słoweniec jako wieczny student i nie tylko – wycinek z polsko-słoweńskich badań ankietowych

The educational system in a given country largely influences the process of shaping of the students’ identity. The text is a study on an excerpt from material which is part of research reconstructing the linguistic and cultural image of Poles and of Slovenians. An analysis of the operational categories of the linguistic image of the world is a valuable source of knowledge about the stereotypical image of the country and of its representatives, reflecting the subjective point of view of respondents. A binary model emerges clearly, with a positive – negative (unambitious) attitude of Slovenians towards science and education. The comparison of the auto- and heterostereotypical approach, in our case the Slovenian one with the Polish one (respondents who had had contact with Slovenians), yields a broader picture of the studied aspect.
