Names of the angel and the devil make a small group of terms of religion in Lithuanian catechisms published in 1800–1882. The article deals with the names of the angel (angelas, ×Aniolas, archangelas, ×archaniolas, kunigaikštystės, ponystės,
galybės, wyresnybės, serapinai, kerubinai, sostai, ×tronai, angelas Dievo, ×aniolas Dievo, geras ×aniolas, šventas ×aniolas, Angelas sargas, etc.) and the names of the devil (velnias, antikristas, šėtonas, biesas, ×čertas, kipšas, juodasis, nelabasis, piktasis, prakeiktasis, žaltys, ×levas, ×ledokas, kelmas, pikta dvasia, piktas ×aniolas, kaltasis ×aniolas, prakeiktas ×aniolas ir kt.) taken from the catechisms of the above period. One-word and complex terms in respect of their origin are grouped into terms of Lithuanian origin, non-Lithuanian origin (international words and loan-words) and mixed origin.
