Animals inhabit children’s literature. What is at stake is to explain the reasons for this study by emphasizing what contributions and impacts these furred, feathered or shelled heroes make to a young readership. According to their age, young readers will be more or less attracted by a specific type of animal, the human hero’s animal companion, the identifiable anthropomorphic animal hero or the leading and facilitating one likely to help and accompany them in their discovery of the world.

This paper is part of scientific project named „Monitoring the abuse of addiction substances in the population of secondary school students in Dubrovačko-neretvanska county“. Since 2001 Dubrovačko-neretvanska County Institute for Public Health has implemented (conducted) and financed the above mentioned project. The research sample consists of representative sample of all secondary schools’ students in Dubrovačko-neretvanska county who anonymously filled in the questionnaire „How are you? “ (autor: Petar Bezinović) in spring 2006 (N = 1485). The research focus was to analyze the connection of alcohol abuse and the experience of school environment as well as school obligations. The research aim was to analyze the connection between alcohol abuse and school environment. This would help us detect possible predictor values of the young functioning in school, in order to estimate the risk of their growth and development. The findings suggest that the school environment and school obligations are statistically significantly related to alcohol abuse. The more serious forms of alcohol abuse are connected with less favorable experience of the school environment and with lower engagement in fulfilling the school obligations. In short, on the bases of the youth’s functioning in school, it is possible to foresee growing up risk factors and prevent the possible alcohol abuse. That, however, implies thorough changes in Croatian education system

All Hungarian educational establishments in Southern Slovakia are struggling with competition, which is primarily the exhausting effect of the Slovak institutional system. While looking for a solution to competition, it is now clear that the strengthening of Hungarian schools can only be promoted by improving the quality of their education. Due to the new educational methods, the improvement of teaching and learning conditions and the technological equipment of schools, Hungarian institutions can now better compete with Slovak schools. The objective of this study is to examine the situation of the Hungarian small primary schools. The first part of the study characterizes the types of small schools and the trends in small schools in Southern Slovakia with charts. The last part introduces a good example for a small school in Karva (Kravany nad Dunajom), a village on the bank of the Danube. In Slovakian villages with Hungarian population small schools are the “last bastions” of local Hungarian cultural life. It seems important to expand the cooperation of small schools with the central school of this Southern Slovakian rural region and to deepen the quality indicators of personalized education in them.

As the most obvious provision of social media in the individual world, „selfie“ is confronted ata point where self-confidence is increased or lost. Nowadays, the use of social media startsat a very early age, and self efficacy beliefs are also developing at an early age. However, themadness of selfie is becoming more of an „infantilized“ action. Thus, it can be argued thatit functions as a counterfeit of the self and serves as a mirror in the individual’s world. It isalso true that this „new or pseudo mirror“, which shows us both to ourselves and to others, also raises concerns about perceptual development, curiosity and visibility in the era of selfdiscovery throughout the developmental process. The concept of self-reflection and „selfie“in its social media term emerges at a point where the individual’s internal communication isbroken. It brings a „dual-dyadic“ concept on one hand and a „triad theory“ on the other. Thestudy aims to analyze „selfie“ madness in social media, providing examples and assumptionswithin the framework of these theoretical discussions. The study aims to add new dimensionsto the concept of self portrayals of individuals within national and international examples in thelight of current media scrutiny.

Professional practice standards for school directors serve as a strategic tool to train and prepare school directors, and to improve the quality of education in institutions they lead. Over the last two decades, the education sector in Kosovo has been experiencing continuous changes so that a higher quality and genuine education of new generations is achieved, and having in mind that a school director is a key factor in coordinating the processes within school institutions, there are requirements for their professional development. To verify the usage and the impact of professional practice standards in professional development practice and performance assessment of school directors, a theoretical and empirical research has been carried out with primary and lower secondary school directors (N=26) and upper secondary school directors (N=11) in Prishtina and its suburb. From data analysis resulting from the quantitative approach (N = 37) it has been confirmed that, in Kosovo, the professional practice standards are used in average by school directors. These standards are not used to the extent required as an instrument for school directors’ performance assessment, neither by themselves through self-assessment, nor by the relevant institutions responsible for evaluating the performance of directors.
