Osnovna namjera ovoga rada jeste pružiti uvid u područje obrazovanja odraslih u novijoj historiji Bosne i Hercegovine (nakon stjecanja njene nezavisnosti).

The quality of education to a large extent depends on the quality of teaching staff. Besides, increasing students’ enrolment is critical in improving the literacy level. Therefore, this seeks to assess the level of gender imbalance in teaching staff, students’ enrolments and educational completion on Nigeria`s quest for educational development. The data for this study were collected from secondary source such as text books, journals, reports among others while percentage, graphs and content analysis were used to analysed the data collected. This study revealed that there was a deadline in the percentage of female teachers at all levels. Also, there was decline in the level of female enrolment at every level of education in Nigeria between 2012 and 2016. This suggested, among other things, that achieving gender balance among the teaching staff and in students’ and pupils’ enrolment require the National Assembly passing non-discriminating living environment for women at all levels of education in Nigeria.

The construction of modern Romania has been achieved, not only through the efforts of politicians and culture people, who proposed and made the necessary reforms, but also by the teachers's contribution, especially rural teachers. Besides the class and extracurricular students activities of lifting the masses through education, teachers have also been involved in solving other problems, with impact on the community, such as the study of natural phenomena (climate and influence on vegetation, earthquakes), contributing to the foundation of Romanian scientific research in this field. This study presents the role of Bacau teachers in the development of Romanian meteorology and seismology at the end of the XIX-th century and the beginning of the XX-th century.

This article presents the evolution of the Primary Schools for Girls from Bacau City till The First World War. There are presented the improper conditions in which the instructive process took place, caused by the carelessness of local authorities regarding the school’s problems: the lack of space, of furniture, of didactic materials and text books. Although there were a lot of shortcomings, the large-hearted school-teachers and professors, driven by the patriotism that characterizes the progressive teachers, have managed to raise up the Bacau City’s educational system for girls to a laudable prestige that remained during the whole period of time studied here.

The cultural life of every region is often connected to the history of its school system because it was precisely the schools system that acted as a nursery of literate people and the provider of various forms of cultural work. Schools, also, often held various records of the cultural life of a particular place so historians could find valuable information on the history of a particular region in school archives. Unfortunately, the archive of the elementary school in Daruvar today, the spiritual successor of the folk school, has a lot of archive material missing. What was later entrusted for safe keeping to the archival institutions is not sufficient to entirely portray the oldest history of folk education. This paper uses primarily clerical archival data which can still form an image of the status of the school system in Daruvar in the second half of the 19th century. It is possible to know that, in a certain period of time, there were three folk schools in the jurisdiction of three confessions that later merged into one general folk school. Something can also be found out on the problem of school facilities because that was the primary issue in the first decades of the operation of folk schools.

In our study, we examined a significant change of administration and power: what was the impact of the Second Vienna Award of 30 August 1940 on the Faculty of Theology of the Transylvanian Reformed Church in Cluj/Kolozsvár? This historical turn of events was not only a cause for joy, but also a major change and challenge for theological education. We were able to gain insight into the challenges the faculty and its leadership faced in the new situation and the solutions they sought to address them. After the second Vienna Award, the integration of the faculty into the ecclesiastical higher education of the Hungarian state was one of the primary tasks. The academic situation of the students also had to be sorted out, and the Faculty had to face a significant reduction in its staff and the financial crisis. These influences changed the internal and external life of the faculty; consequently, we see that social, administrative and political changes had a particular impact on the functioning of the institute and on the training of ministers. The writings of the theological teachers in ecclesiastical publications have provided a basis for understanding the processes of power change in Transylvania in their ecclesiastical context. They helped to develop a correct vision and to identify the perceived and expected consequences of the decision. Our study also shows that during this period, ecclesiastical and public activities were deeply intertwined.

The article aims to provide an account of an academic scientific institute as an independent functioning unit of the Soviet scientific system from the first half of the 1960s until the end of the Soviet era. This was a time of gradual decline of scientific achievements of the USSR after resounding successes in the 1950s. During these years, the growth rate of the number of scientists sharply decreased, and the understanding of their role in the institutions of the USSR Academy of Sciences changed. Using a wide range of archival documents, some used for the first time, the functions of each category of research institute employees, their qualifications, boundaries of authority, and ways to strengthen their position are described as factors that affect the effectiveness of research activities of the institute. Estimates of contemporaries - members of the academic community, given to certain social groups of research institute collectives - are provided. The academic research institute created favorable conditions for free scientific work by organizing a system of positions. Researchers could use the assistance of highly qualified support staff, were spared from mechanical labor and responsibility for technical processes, and had to deal only with science. The formal status of researchers at the Academy during the 1960s - 1980s steadily strengthened until the end of the Soviet era, in which they had the right to influence the election of the director of the institute at the general meeting of the collective, which has also contributed to democratization in the late 1980s. The inability to intervene in individual research processes made it difficult to get rid of vain employees and thus reduced the effectiveness of Soviet scientific institutions.
