Summary/Abstract: This article presents the evolution of the Primary Schools for Girls from Bacau City till The First World War. There are presented the improper conditions in which the instructive process took place, caused by the carelessness of local authorities regarding the school’s problems: the lack of space, of furniture, of didactic materials and text books. Although there were a lot of shortcomings, the large-hearted school-teachers and professors, driven by the patriotism that characterizes the progressive teachers, have managed to raise up the Bacau City’s educational system for girls to a laudable prestige that remained during the whole period of time studied here.
