Analysis of the vegetation and flora biodiversity of the scenic reserve Boguslavsky is presented. There are 500 species including 25 of rare and threatened species in different ecotopes of the flood-plain. Two species of plants, which are rare for Steppe zone of Ukraine, were found. These species are new for a flora of the Dnipropetrovsk oblast.

Trophic relations of the Lycaenidae 47 species with 13 families of the flowering plants in the steppe zone of Ukraine were ascertained. Most species of the Lycaenidae are trophically related with the Fabaceae family. We have partitioned three types of the caterpillar’s feeding nature: 1) feeding on flowers with a transition to seeds; 2) at first feeding on flowers, but then – on leaves; 3) feeding only on leaves.

The article touches upon the burning questions of environmental contamination with high-polymeric compounds. The possibility of these compounds transformation into energy carriers with the help of anaerobic methanegenic associations has been estimated. The mechanisms of interaction between certain populations of methanegenic association microorganisms have been studied. The selection of the microorganisms, which took part in the transformation of polymers into energy carriers, has been carried out. Some artificial microbial populations have been created. The influence of outer factors on the processes of intensification and increase of obtained amounts of energy carriers in the course of high-polymeric compounds transformation by anaerobic microorganisms has been studied.

The observation were made from 1991 to the January 2006 in Verhnedniprovsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Novomoskovsk, Pavlograd, Petrikovka and Pyatihatki region of Dnipropetrovsk oblast and Dniprodzerzhinsk city. Thirty-two new species were added to the Dnipropetrovsk oblast list, one of which is new to Ukraine. Three new subspecies were added to the oblast list, and they may well also be new records for Ukraine.

Comparative data on the species composition and quantitative characteristic of soil mesofauna of Pinetum myrtillosum and Quercetum urticosum under condition of moisure deficiency are presented. The sharp reduction of species diversity, invertebrates’ number and biomass under condition of moisure deficiency is observed. It is particularly manifested in the oak woods.

For the first time the full modern cadastral list of fishes living in Dniprovs’ke (Zaporiz’ke) reservoir is resulted. The list contains 52 kinds concerning 11 groups, 14 families and 43 genuses. Latin and Russian names of fishes, their status and economic value of the species are presented. Provided list of fishes comprises taxonomic changes made in scientific descriptions of fresh-water ichthyofauna after publication by L. S. Berg’s papers (1948-1949)
