This article deals with the issues directly or indirectly connected to educating a child in a modern family. Some ethical issues are being discussed related to widely applied activities within the public space such as ones in the social media, intervention in fertility health treatments, pedagogical practices in nurseries and kindergartens accompanied by the author’s comments altogether with their long-term consequences on the most important individual amongst them – the child.

This article is part of ethnological research on the role and function of the public baths in the urban space. It was held in 2017 in the Gorna Banya district in Sofia. In this publication the public baths are seen as one of the markers that construct local identity. In the beginning of the 20th century, the old Ottoman baths were destroyed and new ones were built, which have been preserved to present day in the centre of Gorna banya. The baths are part of the everyday life of the local people. They use their resources for drinking, cooking, washing, but also for trade and medicinal purposes. Furthermore, they continue to observe some traditional family and calendar customs around the public baths.Although the doors of the baths are closed, the square in front of them continues to play a central role in public life. This is evidenced, on the one hand, by the annual celebrations, and on the other hand, by the ordinary people who organize gatherings in front of the public baths via Facebook. The public baths continue to be a central place around which life in the neighbouhood is organized. The local authorities are looking for different ways to fund the restoration of the old building.

Researches of the problem of the importance of Art activities of children at risk is shown in the context of the theoretical, analytical, and empirical aspects of the problem, and inferences and conclusions have been made accordingly. The report focuses its scientific interest on the role of extracurricular art activities for the personal development of the children, their ability to easily integrate to the social environment and to develop abilities and skills, which will help develop their emotional and social growth and keeping them in school. The contributions of this research can be divided into several main directions: collecting and systemizing literature and information directed towards existing models of prevention, showing the importance of art activities of children at risk, analyzing the results that have been achieved by art activities of the group of children endangered of being expelled of school, to define the appropriate models of social adaptation through activating the artistic abilities of the children. The purposes of the research are divided into several groups. On one hand is shown the importance of the introduction to the technical capacity of drawing in extracurricular form with different teachers, showing the analyzes made until the present moment achieved results of European, national and regional level, analyzes, summaries and conclusions of working with children from risky groups. In the analytical part, some of the methods of Rubinstein, Ulf and others, are applied. The results show that with active and regular art activities of children from risky groups, a durable interest is being shown to artistic activities and adaptation to the school environment is made quicker and more qualitative.

Грижата за подобряване на психоемоционалния климат в екипа – насоки за ръководството и учителите на едно училище

This article reflects part of the experience and development of the Centre for Inclusive Education‘s ideas on how the care of improving the psycho-emotional climate in the school team can be more adequately put into effect, in terms of school setup.  The article presents a part of a methodology for improving the psycho-emotional climate in the school team, which was developed in the process of creating and approving the Model for Organization of  School Processes for Building Inclusive School Environment (Center for Inclusive Education, 2017) of Center for Inclusive Education within One School for All Programme. The methodology is designed for the leadership team of each school in Bulgaria and its pedagogical specialists who believe that the climate and teamwork contribute to their work and have an impact on how each of them feel at their workplace. It is also intended to focus on the mental health care of teachers, which is often mistaken with suggestions for mental health assessments, qualifications to improve their pedagogical competencies, or conducting leisure and rest events.

The Pre-School Children’s Ability to Express their Emotions as a Predictor of Mother-Child Conflict

In this study, pre-school children (36 – 72 months) examined whether their ability to express their positive and negative feelings has a predictive effect on their level of conflict with their mothers. For this purpose, data were collected from the mothers of 594 children, who were educated in the kindergartens in Denizli province centre during the fall semester of 2017 – 2018. “Child Emotion Expressiveness Scale – Mother Form” was used to determine children’s ability levels of expressing their emotions and “Child-Parent Relationship Scale” was used to determine children’s levels of conflicts with their mothers. In the analysis of the data, the stepwise linear multiple regression analysis was used to learn power of the children’s ability to express their feelings of happiness, sadness, anger and fear in the prediction of their conflict levels with their mothers. Prior to the analysis, the suitability of the data set for regression analysis was examined in terms of the normality test, autocorrelation and multiple correlation problems, and the necessary assumptions were met. The findings of the study reveal that the children’s expressing their feelings of anger, sadness and happiness are significant predictors of motherchild conflict. In this context, the expression of anger feeling is a positive predictor of mother-child conflict, while expressing feelings of sadness and happiness are negative predictors of mother-child conflict. Finally, it has been seen that expressing fear has no predictive effect on the mother-child conflict.

Немско-български културни отношения от началото на ХХ век до средата на 40-те години на века

The aim of this article is to present the results of the author’s profound investigation on German-Bulgarian cultural relations since the beginning of the 20th century to the mid-1940s of the 20th century and to give an assessment of the cultural contacts between both countries in the context of Bulgarian political and historical development. The article reveals different aspects of the cultural contact between Germany and Bulgaria in the fields of theatre, fine and applied arts. The author emphasizes the role of the training of many Bulgarian artists in German art institutions and the establishment of German-Bulgarian cultural associations. The article is based on the findings of published studies as well as on the author’s own research undertaken in many museums, archives, private and institutional art collections, situated in Germany and Bulgaria.

University museums in Bulgarian higher education institutions are described and analyzed in the context of the current educational and cultural trends. The important features of this specific academic units are highlighted with specification of some distinguishing museum collections, which work fruitfully inside and outside of their own university space. Administrative improvement and more active promotion are recommended as key paths for a more positive prospect ahead of the whole 27 Bulgarian university museums. In the article are involved data, extracted from the cited sources and from the official internet sites of the mentioned higher education institutions.

Мегданът на българските емигранти

With its fifth edition in 2019, the festival ‘Na Megdana na Drugata Bulgaria’ (At the Public Square and Gathering Point of the Other Bulgaria) establishes itself as one of the main events for Bulgarian emigrants in Europe. It gathers folklore enthusiasts and besides a dancing stage, it is a ground for new friendships, meetings, and exchange of expertise. The article examines the festival as a place of contact of informal migration-based groups of interest and as a trigger for developing an imagined community around symbols such as origin, clothes, music, dance and food. The ‘megdan’ is considered a community centre existing mainly in people’s mind but not as a geographic location. The article searches for the link between the event and the ways of preserving and transmitting cultural heritage in migration. The study was conducted in three stages: a preliminary online survey; fieldwork in the period May 10 – 12, 2019 in La Nucia, Spain; an additional digital data gathering.

Future cities’ architecture, architecture for active and healthy ageing

Preamble: The worldwide trend of population ageing and in particular at European level produces paradigm shifts from which architecture is not an exception. According to UN, the percentage of older people (65+) will increase from 9% in 2019 to 16% in 2050 At the European level, the ageing trend is even more pronounced, in 2050 it is estimated that the percentage of older adults will reach 28%. This trend of demographic ageing is accompanied by the trend of urbanization.Objective: The paper investigates interdisciplinarly the way in which the architecture of the cities can intelligently support an active and healthy ageing, bringing into discussion the perspective of the age in the architecture.Preliminary studies: The paper starts from the relation of the concept of age-friendly with cities, architecture, communities, public space and is based on a critical appraisal of the literature in this research niche.Materials and Methods: The research is interdisciplinary, architecture-medicine-psychology-social gerontology-kinetotherapy, describing the aspects of ageing that architecture must take into account. Case studies are used, moving from residential to public space.Results: The present research proves the importance of the built environment both urban level and architectural object for a healthy lifestyle and a continuous participation in the city life. Models of good practice in Western Europe that provide opportunities for health, participation and security are revealed.Conclusions: The perspective of the age in architecture represents a change of paradigm essential for adapting the cities of the future. It is imperative the built environment to take into account the new age pyramid, to support the extension of active and healthy life and to contribute to the compression of morbidity. The architecture of the future’a cities should encourage active ageing, optimizing the opportunities for health, autonomy, participation and security in order to increase the quality of life and well-being.

The article examines a specific case, Sapareva Banya Municipality, and tracks the changes in the choice of natural and cultural resources for the construction of a tourist destination.

За музикалнофолклорното творчество и работата на някои културни институции по време на пандемия

The article regards and analyses examples from the new musical creation, inspired by the COVID-19 pandemic. Those examples are published on the global network and contain some intrinsic features of folklore. The most important among these features is the reaction to events or occurrences from the current life of society. Object of analysis is also the activity of certain cultural institutions, such as community centres (chitalishta), schools, dancing or hobby clubs, retired people’s clubs and schools for folklore singing and folklore instruments, during the pandemic. The author also features some cases of postponing or cancellation of festival activities on local level and the performance of local non-professional artists in such shows.

The National Festival of Folklore in Koprivshtitsa in the Context of a Local Community

The article describes the National Festival of Folklore in Koprivshtitsa in through the eyes of a particular local community, that of the village of Bistritsa, Sofia region. The study is based on fieldwork conducted in January 2015 at the local community centre. The main method of investigation is the semi-structured interview, which offers local people the opportunity to select the most significant moments in their narratives and to express their own understanding and interpretations of folklore heritage. The authors pay particular attention to the processes of transformation of local tradition into cultural heritage, which became especially visible after the 1930s and the 1940s. The text outlines the processes and means by which the local community presents its culture and understands the necessity of its contemporary safeguarding as a living practice. The influence of local and national cultural institutions is duly marked, including the influence of the local community centre and the National Festival of Folklore in Koprivshtitsa. Special attention is also given to these institutions’ contributions towards the conceptualization of different elements of the respondents’ local culture and the ways in which local culture becomes a resource for the construction of different networks of identities: cultural, local and national. The text also highlights the basic accents and interpretations in the narratives of the respondents who discuss the National Festival; the Festival’s importance as a place for the representation of their traditional village cultural elements; its role in their preservation; the character of the Festival stage and changes to it through the years; as well as the personal experiences of the community members during the Festival.
