Katecheza przygotowująca do Pierwszej Komunii Świętej w Archidiecezji Lwowskiej w opinii katechetów

Cultural factors of today's world are constantly changing. That is why the activity of the Church demands a systematic renewal and some new pastoral strategies are created. With regard to catechesis this is revealed in creating of new curriculum guidelines and practical tools for religious education. The Roman Catholic Church in Ukraine, conscious of contemporary challenges, is currently trying to develop assumptions for catechesis of children and young people. For this reason, empirical research have been conducted amongst catechists of the Archdiocese of Lviv. This article contains analysis of the results of this survey. They relate to organizational framework of catechesis, its content and methods as well as the development prospects of the catechesis of children preparing for First Holy Communion.

The article undertakes the issue of the relation between one of the most dynamic and meaningful areas of modem civilization and an essential element of human life - spirituality. The analysis is based on the addresses made by the outstanding thinker, Pope Benedict XVI, on the occasion of the annual World Communications Day. The article presents the addresses and points out to the way they present the relations between eternal God, modem technologies related to communication, a positive potential typical to the media; as well as the role mass media may and should play, when it comes to spirituality.

While medicine is interested only in diagnosing the illness, and psychology concentrates on the psychological condition of the patient, every patient has the right to express their religious and spiritual needs, as religious care and spiritual communication complete medical care over the patient. The religious and communication dimension is especially important in the case of the terminally ill. Religious care and spiritual communication with the patient are elements of medical care. Such holistic view of the sick is an expression of care for their good in every dimension. A view of the human person in their integrity determines the holistic model of care. Its essence is the ability to meet the widest possible range of needs of the patients and their families.

The 770th anniversary of the foundation of the Diocese of Warmia and the 660th anniversary of the conferring of civic rights to Olsztyn offered an opportunity for organizing an exhibition of photographs of bookplates and other marks of ownership collected in the ‘Hosianum’ Library in Olsztyn. Th e title of the exhibition: Common Heritage indicates that the holders of presented marks of ownership for the most part were not only bishops of the Catholic Church but also distinguished personalities of the political and social life of their epoch. The exhibition included works belonging to such bishops as: Łukasz Watzenrode, Jan Dantyszek, Marcin Kromer and Andrzej Batory.

Przygotowanie do małżeństwa w ujęciu Jana Pawła II i papieża Franciszka

The article compares the teaching contained in the exhortation of John Paul II entitled Familiaris consortio and the exhortation of Pope Francis entitled Amoris laetitia. The subject taken for thecomparison is preparation for marriage. The analysis of both exhortations has shown that Pope Francisuses a slightly different terminology regarding the same stages of formation. Francis uses the followingrich images concerning the stages of preparation for marriage: “education of love”, “maturation oflove” and “superiority of love”. Francis deepens the personalistic thought of John Paul II. The analysis shows the continuity of the pastoral concept present in both examined documents.

W teologicznej refleksji na długo przed Soborem Watykańskim II sługa Boży ks. Wincenty Granat dążył do zbliżenia teologii do życia. Jego rozumienie i nauczanie prawd wiary było dalekie od spekulatywnych dyskusji, od teologii akademickiej. Był przekona-ny, że nauki teologiczne w oparciu o objawienie Boże dają pogląd na życie człowieka. W nauczaniu należy ukazywać szerokie horyzonty dogmatów, ich egzystencjalną i humanistyczną zasadność i pożyteczność, a nie ograniczać się tylko do terminów i tez, bo to może prowadzić do sytuacji, że dogmat nie będzie wykorzystany w dyskusji, na ambonie, czy konfesjonale i w ten sposób zubożeje kultura religijna wiernych. W przekonaniu ks. Wincentego Granata, refleksja teologiczna ma rozpoznawać problemy współczesnego człowieka i je rozwiązywać w świetle Ewangelii; takie bowiem jej uprawianie zapoczątkuje żywy kontakt między współczesnym człowiekiem a objawiają-cym się Bogiem.

In search of the ethical significance of human work in the contemporary nigerian scio-economic situation

John Paul II’s Encyclical Letter Laborem Exercens is a deep personalist theory of human work. It seems to be an important instrument in rediscovering the ethical dimension of human work in the present socio-economic situation in Nigeria. The notion of work held by Nigerians in pre-colonial days was in consonance with the lines of work ethos portrayed by the Pope in Laborem exercens, stressing that man is the subject of work. Nigerians positive vision of work suffered greatly after contact with Western civilization. The corrupted notion of work can only be remedied by a virtuous affirmation of the subjectivity of the human person and viewing work as a means of self-actualization and self-fulfillment. Nigerians must discard the negative attitude to work that is demonstrated in their performance of white-collar jobs and strive for self-actualization in work to achieve maximum productivity for economic growth. And more importantly, the working class and the entire citizenry in Nigeria must be in solidarity in demanding accountability from the corrupt politicians so that the nation’s abundant resources be invested in the creation of much needed employment opportunities. This will eradicate the prevailing commodification of human labor in Nigeria and enthrone the consideration of work upon the plane of human dignity.

Toward a full harmony between God, man and nature. The theological significance of the Beduruk wisdom tradition (Medang, West Kalimantan, Indonesia)

This article represents a type of contextual theology that appreciates the importance of local cultures and traditions in creating a credible message about God, man and the world. The author presents the issue of universal harmony, which is based on three pillars: harmony between man and God, harmony between man and fellowmen, and harmony between man and nature. The author analyzes the beduruk wisdom tradition in Medang village (West Kalimantan, Indonesia) as the point of departure for his reflection. He believes that so far the beduruk tradition has contributed a lot to the values and wisdom that are needed to build such a universal harmony, also in managing and nurturing nature. Emphasis on the theme of harmony actually comes from the author’s own concern for the environment, especially in Indonesia. The above article concludes with the statement that whatever forms of human work in cultivating soils should always respect the Creator, human dignity, and nature.

Romanian Heirmoi of the “Presentation of our Lord” Feast

In the announced paper, the author intends to identify and analyze musically the Heirmoi (Katabasiae) of the “Presentation of our Lord” Kanon of the Matins (February 2/15), as they appear composed, adapted and processed in the main Romanian collections of church songs (18th-20th centuries), compared to some Greek music sources of Balasie the Priest, Petros Lampadarios, Ioannis Lampadarios. These are found mainly in collections generically called “Irmologhion” or “Catavasier”, composed by Romanian authors such as Filotei sin Agăi Jipei (1713), Macarie the Hieromonk (Vienna, 1823), Visarion the Confessor (Neamț Monastery, 1826), Anton Pann (Bucharest, 1846), Dimitrie Suceveanu (Iasi, 1848), Ghelasie Basarabeanul († 1855), Nicolae Severeanu and Neagu Ionescu (Bucharest, 1897), Ioan Zmeu (Buzău, 1907), Ion Popescu-Pasărea (Bucharest, 1908), Theodor V. Stupcanu (Iasi, 1927), Nicu Moldoveanu (Bucharest, 2000, 2002). In the final part of this paper, the author comparatively analyzes the Stichoi in honor of the Mother of God at the beginning of the 9th Ode, called generically the “Little cradle”, adapted remarkably in Romanian language by Dimitrie Suceveanu († 1898).
