The reception of Camões's poem Os Lusíadas in Poland is related to attempts to make it accessible to Polish readers. Until the 1890s, the Portuguese work was read in Jacek Idzi Przybylski's translation of 1790, modeled on the French translation of Jean-François de La Harpe and Vaguette d'Hermilly (1776). One hundred years later, in 1890, a translation by Zofia Trzeszczkowska née Mańkowskich appeared on the Polish market, published in Warsaw by Salomon (Franciszek Salezy) Lewental, in the series The Library of the Most Celestial Works of European Literature: Portuguese Literature. Trzeszczkowska, born in Kresy, wife of an officer serving in the Russian army, translator and poet, hiding behind the male pseudonym Adam M-ski, translated works of world literature into Polish, including Alphonse de Lamartine, George Byron, Wiktor Hugo and Charles Baudelaire.

Exodus Leszka Aleksandra Moczulskiego w Teatrze Stu

In 1974, the STU Theater already had a reputation among critics for being committed to the side of the young generation, which distrusts the top-down programmed vision of reality and looks for its own style to express the need for independence. From Falling (1970) based on Tadeusz Różewicz's poem, through Dreambook Polish (1971), the road led to Exodus (1974) with its metaphorized ethical message. Unlike the first two parts of the triptych, composed of fragments from many authors, the text of Exodus was written entirely by Leszek Aleksander Moczulski. The play directed by Krzysztof Jasiński turned out to be one of the most important in the history of student theater. It was shown in many Polish cities (Gdynia, Warsaw, Łódź, Poznań, Wrocław), on European stages (Switzerland, France, Belgium, West Berlin) and even in South America.

This year's verdict of the Nobel Committee of the Swedish Academy attracted special media attention and became the cause of many polemics. There were two reasons for this - firstly, because two prizes were awarded, and secondly, one of the winners, Peter Handke, was and is still very controversial. The Serbian and Croatian media also did not remain outside the general trends, not questioning the validity of awarding O. Tokarczuk with the Nobel Prize in Literature, but lively discussing the choice of the second laureate. One thing that should be emphasized here is that their statements regarding P. Handke had a completely different tone: while Croatian journalists did not hide their indignation about this, Serbian ones expressed their satisfaction, which is related to the Austrian writer's statements about the last war in the Balkans.

The book “The Greatness of Constantine and our fate” by Petko Atanasov is a comprehensive and detailed presentation of Constantine’s time and deeds. Petko Atanasov looks upon these key events and the figure of Constantine the Great from the point of view of the Balkans and Thrace which were the birthplaces of the Emperor and played a key role in his life and reign. Atanasov analyzes the history of Christianity, the transition from Paganism towards a Christianized Roman Empire and the major role of Constantine in this process. Petko Atanasov’s thesis is that the Ancient Thracian tradition was a significant influence and motivation for the Emperor’s actions.

Ljubav prema zavičaju nadilazi sve prolaznosti

Slavonac je oduvijek volio svoga konja, smatrao ga prijateljem, bilo da ga je koristio za obradu njiva, kirijanje ili kada ga je jahao kao graničar na Savi. Konj mu je uzvraćao ljubav, bio mu vjeran i u polju i u boju! Konj za Šokca ima mitsko značenje. Etnograf i svećenik Josip Lovretić kazuje da ljudi vole životinje, a osobito konja i psa. Najači kult kod Šokaca je kult konja („Od sve marve Šokac voli samo konja“, zapisat će Juraj Lončarević). Koliko je to jak kult vidi se, recimo, i po tome što jahači i konjske zaprege predstavljaju udarne i najatraktivnije točke na svim tradicijskim manifestacijama. U pjesmi Miroslava Slavka Mađera „Pjevat će Slavonija“, neslužbenoj slavonskoj himni, spominju se konji: „Pjevaj, majko, ratara i bekrija, pjesmu onu što nam život vara. Konje vrane kad osedla Šokadija, vrisne pjesma od plamena i žara“.

Kako je nestala bazilika u Sutini

Šire područje doline rijeke Neretve u okolici Mostara bilo je naseljeno u kontinuitetu – od najstarijih vremena do danas. Uz ostalo, nedaleko od vrela Bune pronađeno je naselje pećinskog neolitskog čovjeka i nekoliko desetaka arheološki značajnih lokaliteta iz metalnog doba, prapovijesti, rimskog doba i srednjega vijeka. Od osnivanja Zemaljskog muzeja u Sarajevu za vrijeme austrijske uprave kod nas, koncem 18. stoljeća do početka Prvoga svjetskog rata, mnogo je učinjeno u BiH na organiziranom, stručnom, povijesnom i arheološkom istraživanju starije prošlosti ovoga područja.

Salamonova (Salamunova) zvijezda na kamenom križu u groblju sv. Luke u Blaževićima

U selu Blaževići , na groblju sv. Luke, između više zanimljivih nadgrobnih spomenika, pozornost privlači i jedan kameni križ, visine jednoga metra, skladnih (rimskih) proporcija. O križu, danas postavljenom na sekundarnom položaju, koliko je poznato, u literaturi nema nekih posebnih podataka i objašnjenja. Budući da mu je sadašnji smještaj na zidu novije građene mrtvačnice, očito da je križ prethodno stajao negdje drugdje. Mještani tek potvrđuju da je nakon uređenja područne2 crkve i groblja ovaj križ donesen s kamene gomile iza groblja, gdje je nađen s ostatkom, odnosno dijelom jednoga drugog sličnog križa te postavljen na sadašnje mjesto. Taj drugi križ, slične veličine i s natpisom, nakon što je uz pomoć stručnjaka Tihomira Glavaša i fra Ante Marića3 obnovljen i postavljen u prezbiterij crkve4 sv. Luke, danas se, učvršćen na kamenom postolju, nalazi u posebnoj kapelici na groblju sv. Luke. Oba su križa slične veličine, izrađeni od vapnenačkog kamena miljevine. Ovaj drugi križ iz Blaževića moguće je posve točno vremenski smjestiti, jer je na njemu, uz natpis o posvećenju groblja urezano –1676 21 sič, dakle 21. siječnja 1676., dok na onom prvospomenutom križu, nema natpisa ili ga je barem teško uočiti i pročitati pa je i datiranje otežano5 . Na oba križa, s frontalne je strane reljefno prokazan znak križa, no reljefi su različite stilizacije pa je teško zaključiti potječu li oba križa iz iste klesarske tradicije, odnosno radionice.

Media Convergence: Websites of Radio Stations in the Republic of Croatia

The digitization process alters the media landscapes in all developed European countries. This study presents the results of research that was conducted on the sample of active websites of all radio stations based in Croatia. All active websites (n=157) were mapped on the basis of a matrix that included news, communication, and advertising content as well as indicators of media convergence. The results show a marked unevenness in terms of individual websites’ offer, especially in the category of news content. What all sites have in common is a strong reliance on programmes previously broadcast. Reasons for this neglect are lack of money and lack of staff trained to work in a digital environment. Websites are not understood as a step towards a converged media environment, nor is there a clear awareness of their role in the strategic development of the medium of radio in the 21st century.

COVID concentrated our minds in horrifying ways, but it also forced us to find new ways to enjoy our favorite artforms, in my case, classical ballet.

I recall a quiet evening twenty-or-so years ago; the teenager I was back then was mesmerized by the piercing blue eyes of a young Don Quixote whispering through his lips a heart-felt monologue: “When life itself seems lunatic, who knows where madness lies? Perhaps to be too practical is madness. To surrender dreams — this may be madness. Too much sanity may be madness — and maddest of all: to see life as it is, and not as it should be!” That voice, that intonation, that humanity which struck with so much power with every consonant stuck to my memory. I too, as a Quixote, infuriated by platitude, stereotypes, ignorance, hypocrisy, bored with canons and small thoughts formulated in such a way as to resemble greatness, ashamed of my own superficial — at times narrow — views, burst into the same adapted soliloquy: The maddest of all — to ask what art is and not what it should be.

THE POLITICS OF ART TODAY BEING SINGULAR-PLURAL

In his book The Muses, Jean-Luc Nancy states that when we go to the roots of the names of the muses, we find the meanings of enthusiasm, excitement, desire, and haste. At the same time, muses have also been used to mean those who desire to do and know something. In Ancient Greece, the muses define the moment of inspiration itself; artistic creation is chanted by inspiration. In this context, it would not be wrong to say that the muses point to a poetic vitality in Homeric times. Representing a divine power, muses were conceived in plural form in Ancient Greece. In the modern world, our conception has evolved into a different form over time.

WRITING ICONS IS AN ART

Amikor Tonk Sándor 2003-ban bekövetkezett halála után átvettem a magyar paleográfia oktatását a kolozsvári Babeş–Bolyai Tudományegyetemen, megörököltem a Tanár úrtól azokat a fényképmásolatokat, amelyek önmagukban is lassan már történeti (írott) emléknek minősülnek, hiszen még az 1970-es években készíttette azokat didaktikai eszközként Jakó Zsigmond, a tárgy akkori oktatója. A különböző írásfajták és irattípusok kora újkori (16–17. századi) erdélyi elterjedését szemléltetni kívánó fényképmásolatokat láthatóan tudatosan és kiváló érzékkel elsődlegesen az erdélyi nemes családok (Jósika, Wesselényi, Bánffy stb.) fennmaradt levéltárainak magyar nyelvű iratanyagából válogatta ki Jakó Zsigmond.
