The ecological agenda is a burning issue worldwise but awareness and individual behaviors targeted at managing this approaching crisis vary dramatically. Education may play a pivotal role in such processes, but how do we promote pro-environmental behaviour (EB)? This study tested the effectiveness of a campaign intervention, which was conducted as part of a green campus certification process in a teaching college in Israel. The campaign included formal and informal environmental education (EE) interventions. A pre–post survey assessed students’ awareness of the campaign, changes in students’ knowledge of environmental issues, pro-EB and attitudes toward EE. The findings showed that students were aware of the interventions held on campus, especially of activities which had high visibility. Moreover, improvement in students’ basic knowledge and pro-EB were found, as well as improvement in the importance they ascribe to EE. These findings justify continued implementation of such educational interventions on campuses, involving a variety of pedagogical approaches for preservice teachers, who will educate the next generation.

The long-term goals of communication and transport are the integration of thinking about traffic, operational behavior, situational and strategic actions creating: perceptions, attention, memory and thinking, allowing to create the whole, prediction, ideation and concretization causing changes in meaning and procedures in the emotional and motor tracks of human intellectual activity. Our actions and thinking can be prepared by adapting to the future. Free will and freedom is limited by the understanding of material, intellectual and spiritual limitations: it is in our possession and can produce good or evil, security or catastrophe of humanity, consciousness or ignorance. Education is hope for a far-reaching future. Myopia, lack of knowledge and inability to predict is a disease of our time. Communication and transport, as a move, move us from uncertainty into anticipation and accurate matching of knowledge and skills to the changing reality of our environment. Effective plans, creativity, introduction of new transport technologies and traffic with different transport modalities lead to displacements creating joint building and social connections. Pride in modern transport technologies and studies, creates modernity and social cooperation, and creates fruitful integration. Individual and social prediction and forecasting are a chance to survive, overcome cataclysms and civilization errors. In turn, the imperfection of new development goals and lack of rationalization of land management, creates a lack of opportunities for survival and for drawing strategic ideas. Disorderly thinking and anticipation about transport reduces the chances of humanity's development and survival. The development of transport pedagogy and transport psychology creates opportunities for a successful life, which allows creating new values, practical skills, practical procedural knowledge and strategies in real ecological, health and psychosocial conditions in which people operate.

A child’s hearing impairment is a challenge for parents. Thanks to early diagnosis, parents can decide to treat and support the development of a deaf child already from infancy. The surdopedagogical literature mainly focuses on the role of the mother in the development of such a child, her experiences, as well as the effects of deafness on her functioning. The present article offers a review of Polish and foreign literature on fatherhood with a deaf child and aims to show the researchers’ interest areas in paternity in relation to a child with hearing impairment, including: the importance of the father’s presence in the life of a deaf child, the role of the father, his commitment to care, paternal/parental stress and its effects on the whole family, a sense of efficiency and coherence in fathers, coping with problems, social support, mental health disorders in fathers. Finally, the paper proposes postulates for further research on the fatherhood of deaf children.

Paternity to a deaf child is a big challenge, while the attention of researchers and practitioners focuses mainly on the experiences and role of the mother. Therefore, the increasing number of scientific reports on the experiences of the father in this situation, his paternal role and the importance of his involvement in the upbringing of the child should be noted with appreciation. The article presents the results of 14 fathers’ research by means of a diagnostic survey using a self-assessment questionnaire and M. Ziemska’s Parents’ Questionnaire. On the basis of the research results it can be concluded that fathers of deaf children understand paternity as a responsibility for the child and a duty to meet its needs; they evaluate themselves as good fathers; most of them try to support the development of their child by participating in its everyday activities, rehabilitation, important life events and instilling the hierarchy of values, but they attribute to their wife a much greater role in the child’s everyday life and in supporting it emotionally; they perceive their child with hearing loss as independent, yet in need of more care and attention than a child with hearing loss; fathers differ in parental attitudes, some adopt an attitude of over-abundance, control and helplessness, half of them with an attitude of distance. Undoubtedly, fathers, like the rest of the family (or rather the family as a system), require various forms of help and support, including psychological support.

In the first years of political transformation in Poland starting in 1989, one of the crucial issues was the reform of education, including changes in the procedure of professional advancement for teachers. At that time, it was also important for the Catholic Church to restore Religious Education in schools, which returned to the state education system in the 1990–1991 school year. Since then, RE teachers have had the same rights and obligations as teachers of compulsory subjects and undergone the same professional advancement procedure. Twenty years have passed since the new procedure of career progression for teachers was introduced in Poland. Therefore the author of the article attempts to answer the following questions: To what extent does the procedure meet the challenges of the information society and in what direction should it evolve due to the rapid development of information and communication technology in the world?

The paper embraces the concepts of social acceleration and Late Modernity into a multi-theoretical argument. It sheds light on the reflexive and critical shifts, both at individual and institutional-structural level, induced by these processes. Through this lens, the proposed argument revisits the principal fundaments of ‘Europe’; those orienting and underpinning foundations that need to move from the ‘either/or’ framings to the ‘both/and’ logics of pan-relationalism, anti-representationalism, and anti-essentialism. Finally, in the last chapter, the paper (re-)theorizes the role of ‘spokespeople’ in the field of European Studies in order to show how academics/scholars can contribute the most to the reflexive and critical actorness of ‘Europe’ as a multi-layered institutional entity and its European citizens. The paper embraces the concepts of social acceleration and Late Modernity into a multi-theoretical argument. This paper examines developments in Poland following the 2015 elections and in Hungary since 2010, which included the gradual destruction of democratic institutions, challenges to the rule of law, as well as to the system of checks and balances. The authors consider the Ziblatt–Levitsky model (2018) as a meaningful framework for the analysis of the way in which the power structure was reshaped and have based their research on the classification set out in this model. Our objective is to present the political changes that took place in the two Central-Eastern-European countries during the last decade that resulted in the process under Article 7 being used for the first time in the history of the EU. The paper conclusion is that the path of de-democratization of Hungary and Poland is seen from the perspective of the EU and Council of Europe, as similar one. In actions taken toward both countries, the EU concerns mostly the principle of the rule of law.

Objective: The purpose of this article is to show changes in the understanding of academic autonomy and the manifestations of its erosion, by appropriating this value to legitimise the increase in managerial autonomy, discrediting the value of community autonomy and increasingly restricting individual academic autonomy. Methodology: The article is based on a critical analysis of the literature dealing with the reality of the functioning of autonomy in higher education institutions and materials related to the implementation of contemporary higher education reforms - mainly in Poland. Findings: Changes in the perception of autonomy, threats to institutional and individual autonomy resulting from the uncritical subordination of transformations of higher education to the new public management concept as well as institutional isomorphism are presented. Value Added: Attention has also been paid to ignoring the critical discourse on the consequences of too-one-sided transformation of higher education institutions, losing key values, whose carrier is community and individual autonomy – both academic teachers, for whom it is a necessary condition for the development of didactic and scientific creativity, as well as students who only in a situation of feeling are able to take responsibility for their own development. Recommendations: Individual autonomy and participatory management, which determine creative activity and academic entrepreneurship, should be a particular concern for university managers. It is necessary to undertake research on the autonomy of students as members ofthe academic community.

Objective: The aim of this paper is to present the long-term development of the chosen human capital indices that uncovers and compares the outcome of the national efforts performed by the two culturally distant countries (China and Poland) over the decade. Additionally, paper indicates the areas of further HC progress in both nations. Methodology: The study was based on measuring human capital with the help of deliberately chosen set of macroeconomic indices (28 items) referring to the nations’ capability to create innovations. Analysis was performed for the 2007–2017 years. Findings: Positive phenomena in the case of human capital development out perform the negative ones in both countries, however, the extent is more remarkable in the case of China. China managed to: improve greatly the pupil-teacher ratio (both in primary and secondary schools), increase secondary and tertiary education enrolment rate along with the rise of the no. of students from abroad. In Poland, the greatest increase was observed in the case of the number of researchers what consequently contributed to the improvement of number of scientific and technical articles and citable documents (h-index). Value Added: To the best Author’s knowledge this is the first paper that compares national human capital development in Poland and China with a set of indices focused on capability to create innovations and adopts longitudinal approach. Recommendations: Policy-makers in the case of Poland should concentrate on: fostering university/industry research collaboration, improving rank in worldwide QS classification and performing more efforts to attract and retain talents. Moreover, the negative trends should be reversed with regard to: PISA scores and general quality of education system. In turn, Chinese authorities should facilitate better PISA scores and increase the presence of scientific andtechnical articles.

Objective: According to researchers, visuality appeals to the cognitive aspects of image consumption, hence, the nature of information technologies becomes more important than the content itself. Based on this relevance, the article’s aim is twofold: when seeking to better understand the phenomenon of visual information to analyse the visual communication experience of public relation professionals who apply visual solutions to achieve a specific effect in their work. Methodology: A quasi-structured in-depth interview of the experts and the method of interpretive phenomenological analysis were used to gather and process the data of the research. Findings: The paper presents insights into the interaction between receiver’s visual information experience and one’s world view. The research revealed that the visual information influences a person’s perception and interpretation of a message when it serves as supplement for information alongside text in press, advertisement, etc. Value Added: Based on the research, the visual information experience was defined as an instantaneous action of giving meaning to personal experience and imagination by finding the intersection of narratives between the image and oneself. Recommendations: A narrow boundary exists between the stimulation and constriction of the observer’s imagination when analysing the visual message. With the help of image communication, a new reality can be created. To reach effective communication, it is recommended to avoid abstract images that allow the observer’s imagination to give it whole other meanings than intended by the sender of the message.

This article presents an overview of the Romani culture and language in Poland and discusses the results of the Romani-related research in the form of an online questionnaire addressed to Poles. The first opening sections of the paper constitute an introduction into the world of Roms—their history, lifestyle and major elements of culture. We also include a brief description of Romani which, as an Indo-Aryan language, is very different from Polish. The aim of the research we describe was to determine the prevalent attitudes of Poles towards the Romani community and discover how much Polish people know about Roms. It was also our intention to identify the existing stereotypes of Gypsies and their possible sources. We hope that our research findings will support endeavors to improve Polish-Romani relations and abolish the stereotypes that upset the peaceful cohabitation of the two communities. We also subscribe to the view that cultural diversity should be both protected and popularized as it contributes to the cultural heritage of Europe.
