The aim of this article is to describe and analyze relations between Serbian medieval queen –Helen of Anjou and the Serbian Orthodox Church presented in a literary vision of her life writtenby archbishop Daniel II. The text of Helen’s life shows them аs a model of perfect symphony ofsacerdotium and imperium. She fulfils St. Sava political ideology and is famous in Serbia becauseof her generous patronage over the Church, charity deeds and active political life. Despite beingRoman Catholic by birth she was cannonized as a Orthodox saint and she kept friendly relationswith the Orthodox Church spiritual authorities.

This thesis is a study of the role of Andrei Šeptytsky, the Metropolitan of the Ukrainian GreekCatholic Church, in discussions on articles of the Concordat between the Apostolic See andPoland. The archival documents proved a particular involvement of Šeptytsky in preparation ofthe concordat’s articles dealing with the Church’s property and financial independence. In thoseendeavors, Šeptytsky was concerned not only with the interests of his Greek-catholic clergy, butwith the welfare of Catholic clergy in all Polish eparchies, advocating further independency of theChurch from state authorities.

Odnos komunističkog režima prema Katoličkoj crkvi u Hrvatskoj od 1945. do 1952. godine

Based on historical facts, published and unpublished archival materials, this work provides concise analysis of relations between the Church and the state in Croatia between 1945 and 1952,that is from the period when the Communist Party of Yugoslavia became the ruling party untilthe break-up of diplomatic relations with the Holy See. Since this was a quite dynamic period interms of socio-political changes, as well as Church-state relations, the article emphasizes onlythose aspects that constitute the foundation of the conflict between the Catholic Church and thecommunist regime such as religious education in schools and catholic clergy’s class associations.Moreover, in the introductory part of the work ideological and political causes of the conflictare briefly explained, as well as relations of the Church and the state in the post-war period witha view to better understanding of the position of the Catholic Church and the overall context of thecatholic religious life in time to come.

Kościoły w Polsce w okresie niemieckiej okupacji 1939-1945

Poland and Polish nationalism are widely identified with Catholicism. However, the populationof the Polish state was not homogenous ethnically and religiously – in 1921 the number of ethnic/confessional minorities reached the high level of over 30 percent. The Second World Warwas a fundamental change in Polish history – the new people’s republic, formed after 1945, hasbeen a totally different state from the Second Republic of Poland, which existed 1918–1939.Unfortunately, very little is known about the impact of Churches (Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox)in shaping the Polish, Ukrainian, Belorussian and German nationalisms during the wartime as wellas the attitudes of clergymen towards the German occupants.

Die Rolle Deutschlands in der Eurokrise

The article is an analysis of Germany’s role in the eurozone crisis. It consists of three parts that subsequently present: 1) the concept and the reasons of eurozone crisis from the German point of view; 2) premises of the Germany’s role and challenges for Germany in the crisis mentioned above as well as 3) conclusion resulting from the crisis for new role of Germany in the EU. The timeframe of the analysis encompasses years 2010-13. The basic thesis of the article is: Christian democrat and liberal government led by chancellor Angela Merkel due to a giant economic and financial potential of Germany took a key role in actions for overcoming problems of indebtedness, saving and stabilization of the eurozone. Germany pushing forward with strategy of rigorous austerity within the frames of so-called fiscal pact from March 1st, 2012 did not gain a common approval in the eurozone, exposing itself for serious criticism on the part of indebted states, especially Greece. For its part Germany as a biggest creditor and guarantor of established financial instruments bear extraordinary risk in case of a default of the most heavily indebted southern eurozone states. The above mentioned situation gives birth to many domestic German fears and controversies signaled in the article in spite of the fact that since the end of 2013 some slight displays of improvement in the economic situation and in partial stabilization of the eurozone appeared.

Literarische Anthropologie Ein neuer Ansatz zur Erforschung des 18. Jahrhunderts

In this article, the author is presenting – in the Polish German Philology – a new research literary method; in the German Philology – a main research literary method from the 90’s-a literary anthropology. The aforementioned literary research method is particularly important for exploration of the 18th century, when philosophy and philosophical anthropology were significant reference points for the literature and they both determined a present-day vision of the human being. Reaching back to the source texts allowed the author to polemicize with the widespread opinions, for example with a thesis about the potential faith of the Enlightenment in the almighty reasoning or possibly ignoring the reflective senses of the human being. The awareness of the imperfect sense apparatus of the human being and the need to improve it led to the inception of aesthetics.

Ocena moralna postępów w genetyce medycznej w świetle nauczania Jana Pawła II i Katechizmu Kościoła Katolickiego

This article attempts to assess the moral progress of biomedicine. At the beginning of the analysis the man is presented in the context of the auto teleological. In the second part of the article are shown tasks and role of biotechnology in relation to human needs. Analyzing the achievements of technology the author shows the moral limits of their application. It is emphasized that technology as a tool used by everyone on a daily basis can lead to happiness or cause misfortune. The moral evaluation of the progress refers to many conclusions of John Paul II, inter alia, in his encyclical Evangelium vitae, Redemptor hominis and Veritatis splendor, taking into account its various speeches at various symposiums, as well as quoting the text of the Catechism of the Church Catholic.

The article is devoted to the attitude of writers from the GDR and the FRG to the construction and the fall of the Berlin Wall. The reactions in the RFG were varied, but there prevailed protest and indignation with the situation, whereas the GDR writers mostly supported the action of the authorities. Reactions to the fall of the Wall in 1989 were almost completely opposite: there were the writers from the GDR who responded first and protested against the reunification of Germany, receiving some unexpected support from the FRG writers – former critics of the construction of the Wall. This position should be, among others, explained by the popularity of the idea of the „third way“ among the intellectuals from both German countries, as well as by the attachment to the system of those writers who remained in the GDR until 1989.

Diskursund discourse: Versuch einer Integration der Diskursanalyse und Cognitive Grammar

The primary aim of the paper is to integrate two conceptions of discourse. The paper discusses the concept of discourse developed by American linguist such as R. Langacker concept (1987, 1991, 2009) which can be integrated with text linguistics developed by German linguists such as K. Adamzik (2001), W. Heinemann (2002) and the method of discourse linguistics (Spitzmüller/Warnke 2011).
