Summary/Abstract: The region’s functioning in the contemporary socio-economic realities is marked by a large scale of uncertainty. Although the COVID-19 pandemic is the most important factor, the role of other agents, such as innovations, has not diminished. These changes directly determine the situation of the regions. Those regions that are characterised by the economy of multifunctional and modern structures are able to adapt better to the ensuing transformations and the emerging “new normality”.
