Journey through time through the research of a wooden church in Maramureş: The wooden church "The Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel" in Breb

Summary/Abstract: The article captures a moment from the research stage of the Wooden Church from Breb, from the ethnographic area of Maramureş, in which several steps were taken in reconstructing the church’s history - steps that shed some light on the working methods of craftsmen of the seventeenth century. This research has opened other unique channels that promise information that leads us back in time to the fifteenth century, when the first churches were established in the villages of this historic area. There are complex aspects that can fructify only through the close collaboration between interdisciplinary teams of painting restorers, archaeologists, dendrochronologists and of course construction specialists (architecture, statics, biology). The article is in fact an enticement at the idea of coagulating such a complex team, around the old and mysterious wooden church in Breb.
