Summary/Abstract: The paper presents a review of research on the way men and women make decisions in business. It also presents the results of research carried out on the sample of 150 Polish companies. The results indicate that gender of top managers has no significance when it comes to the company size, company sector and the level of income. Also, there is no dependency reported between gender and the type of chosen strategy (diversification versus specialisation). The research has however shown that there is a dependency between the top manager’s gender and expansiveness of the strategy. Women tend to show more cautiousness when regarding the company’s chances for spectacular growth and avoid risky choices more than men.
