Summary/Abstract: Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony is generally speaking one of the grandest works in human culture. Countless words have been said about, and books have been written on, the Ninth, but it is never enough. This article is a modest celebration of the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth. The author has written about Beethoven on several occasions and lectures on Beethoven at the Academy of Music in Sarajevo. This article is not intended as an academic contribution to Beethoven’s music, but rather as an essayist description, supported by several historical facts, depicting what the author, now at the end of his life feels and thinks about Beethoven and his Ninth Symphony.
