Sustainable development as a contemporary concept and strategy of regional development

Summary/Abstract: Sustainable development as a complex and multi-dimensional concept is being approved in the new European Union financial perspective of 2014-2020 and is an essence of UE regional policy especially present in the strategic purposes and targets of the Europe 2020. The Europe 2020 goals: “smart growth” and “inclusive growth” basically are the set of horizontal purposes and targets creating sustainability by the territorial integration of development policies and potentials. Sustainable development concept of the new European strategy makes it easier to reach integrated efficiency and complementarity of economic governance within the new financial perspective.
