Summary/Abstract: In this article, the author shows the way public education was institutionalized in Bacau City until the issue of The Law of Public Education, which happened in 1864. The purpose of education in Bacau City cannot be fully perceived if we only examine the period marked by its act of birth, the year 1839, when in Bacau, the first public school was founded and named "The Royal School".
