Summary/Abstract: This article centers on the extraordinary figure of Belgian intellectual, Eugène van Itterbeek, philologist and poet who decided in 1994 to settle in Romania, at Sibiu and Cisnădioara. He was a founder of East-West Poetry Centre, chief editor of Transilvania and Saeculum, professor at University Lucian Blaga of Sibiu and coordinator for many years of Emil Cioran International Colloquiam.
