Summary/Abstract: Pompiliu Eliade (1870 – May 24, 1914), the first Romanian "normalian", i.e. a graduate of the "Ecole Normale d'Hautes Etudes" in Paris, at the end of his studies, in 1898, prints his thesis - De l'influence française sur l'esprit public in Romania. Les origines. On February 1, 1899, the defense took place, receiving the qualification "honorable", becoming "docteur ès lettres" of the Sorbonne .Back in the country, he went through the ranks of the university hierarchy: substitute professor (May 17, 1900), provisional aggregate (February 8, 1901), definitive aggregate (December 13, 1901), definitive professor (April 21, 1904) - all within the department of French from the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Bucharest - active until the end of his life, regardless of the fact that in the meantime he held, temporarily, other positions - among others, that of the director of the National Theater in Bucharest.
