Summary/Abstract: The text outlines the picture of traditional instruments used in the region of Velingrad attempting at diachronic observation from the first publications of Ivan Kachulev in the mid-20th century until the present state of the folk instrumentation and instruments performance. The fieldwork research, with no claim to fully cover the field, was carried out in the town of Velingrad and the villages Draginovo, Dorkovo, Kostandovo and St. Petka. The following instruments are presented in more detail: tamboura, kaval, a pair of kavals, dvoyanka, zurna. The character of the performed instrumental music, frequently related to the local song by intonation, is vaguely discussed.
