Summary/Abstract: Bulgarians in Vienna are comparatively new and unstudied communities, whose folk music exists in a foreign ethnic and language sphere. It’s a possibility to express the Bulgarian national uniqueness via music. A point of research in the report is the different forms of existence (reproduction, listening) of Bulgarian folk music, folk dances or ethnopopmusic among Bulgarian young people (pupils and students) among „another” culture context. An attempt the text make to follow the different levels of existing and accepting of the Bulgarian folk music as a communication means in the community – this is the case of students group for Bulgarian folk dances. Important for the research is the „live” of Bulgarian folk music in different situations and places (parties, holidays etc.) as ethnic marker for young Bulgarians.
