Summary/Abstract: The correspondence in writing and written speech is epistolary communication. Among different peoples, epistolary communication has its specificities, which refer to the language, the speech etiquette depending on the nature of the correspondence, the content and layout of the text, the famous representatives of the art of writing, etc. The present research aims to present the specifics and development of the Ottoman epistolary art ilm-yu insha and to discuss some important characteristics of the communicative genre.
