Summary/Abstract: The lexis of each language is susceptible to foreign influ¬ences. Therefore, by studying the lexical borrowings, we can study the histo¬ry of linguistic interactions between the nations being in contact. This study aims to demonstrate the common vocabulary in Turkish and Urdu/Hindi borrowed from Arabic and Persian in the context of linguistic interactions. The paper examines the words borrowed from Arabic and Persian into Turk¬ish and Urdu. It classifies the borrowed words as such contemporarily used in the modern Turkish and archaic words. The paper also considers the adapta¬tion of the same words in both languages, as well as some established varia¬tions in the meaning of the borrowed lexemes.
