Summary/Abstract: This article explores how research on science and technology, in particular Bruno Latour’sactor-network theory (ANT), might further our understanding of the scientific nature ofliterary studies. For Markiewka, ANT provides the tools for a philosophical reconciliationof two popular beliefs of the last few decades: (a) that in literary studies, too, scientificityis an ideal worth pursuing, and (b) that we ought to reject the essentialist-fundationalisttheoretical framework.
