Summary/Abstract: The relative pronoun is used only in the sentence, it connects (establishes the relationship, hence the name relative pronoun) between a subordinate clause and its regent, but also takes the place of a noun expressed in the regent clause. On the other hand, the pronominal adjective appears by changing the grammatical value of the relative pronoun, a situation in which the pronoun accompanies a zero-article noun, stands in front of the noun and agrees in gender, number and case with it. This paper tackles and summarizes the issue of the syntactic functions of the pronoun and the pronominal adjective in Romanian. It also makes a comparison between the latter and the functions of their interrogative counterparts. This can be useful for refreshing knowledge on the matter and also as a revision activity.
