Summary/Abstract: Review of the publication Balcar, Jiří: Soft Skills and theirs Importance on the Czech Labour Market, VŠB-TU Ostrava, Series on Advanced Economic Issues, 2018, 160 stran, ISBN 978-80-248-4245-5. The book focuses on the assessment of the importance of soft skills and the performance and productivity of employees. In recent years, this field of research has been accompanied by a number of discussions prompted primarily by employers who are interested in reducing the costs of developing the soft skills of their employees and who are calling for the development of soft skills to be included in the initial stages of the education system. The aim of the book is, therefore, to provide decision-makers with a basis for deciding whether the development of soft skills should become a complementary component of the educational process. The book presents the results of research aimed at the critical assessment of the benefits and feasibility of the systematic development of soft skills in Czech schools. According to the reviewer, the book provides one of the most important impulses for the direction of the education system in the future.
