Summary/Abstract: Review of the publication: Potůček, Martin: České důchody / Czech Pensions. Praha: Karolinum, 2019. 182 stran. ISBN 978-80-246-4236-9. The Czech pension system is, quite justifiably, described as so confusing, over-complicated and user-unfriendly that it is difficult to understand not only for the public, but also for politicians, who are required to comment on the system and to decide its form. There is no question of the need for a conceptual, longer-term strategy for the future development of the pension system and even, perhaps, the carefully considered, fundamental reform thereof and, at the political level, the subject is attracting increased attention. The release of this interesting publication by Professor Martin Potůček, chairman of the Pension Advisory Board from 2013 to 2017, coincides with the establishment of a new pension commission by the Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Jana Maláčová.
