Summary/Abstract: The dimensions of the Otherness resp. Strangeness in Germany are presented for the period after 2015 - the year, in which over one million people from the Middle East and Africa respond to the German policy for a good reception of Syrian refugees. The problem is considered in two aspects: with an “inside look” (the German refugee welfare policy with goodwill, respect for the cultural differences of the migrants and with measures for their faster integration; the modality of presenting information with a tendentious selective approach in the German mass media; the critical position ofHans-Georg Maafien, former President of the Federal Office For the Protection of the Constitution; the attitude of the Germans towards the “strangers'' resp. migrants, immigrants and refugees and their attitude towards the Germans) and with an “outside look” (the critical position of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin on the refugee policy pursued by Chancellor Angela Merkel as a “cardinal mistake”). Attention is paid to the culturological factors tolerance, taboo and political correctness, with which the Otherness, resp. the Strangeness are closely related. The conclusion is that there is a discrepancy between the migrant policy and the media picture on the one hand and the real attitude of the Germans on the other hand. The conclusion is also about a truly “dramatic situation” not only for a large number of the “strangers” (according to an article in the “Süddeutsche Zeitung”), but also for the Germans themselves, i.e., it is a dramatic situation for the both sides.
