DR. SCHMIDT TIBOLT – A ROMANIAN FOLKORIST

Summary/Abstract: The present article emphasizes the interest of Dr. Tibolt Schmidt for the Romanian popular culture at the beginning of the 20th century, illustrated especially by his second study, Colindatul românilor din Transilvania, published in Budapest in 1913 in Hungarian, never in Romanian. In 2009, during our PhD researching, we found the manuscript in the Romanian language in Arhivele Naționale Sibiu (The National Archives Sibiu); now and here, we would like to draw the attention of the reader interested in the Romanian winter customs, upon this material unique in the Romanian culture.
