Summary/Abstract: Born in Sibiu in 1854, Emil Sigerus is the most important Transylvanian ethnographer at the end of the 19th century. Founder of the Carpathian Museum (Muzeul Carpatin) that was later included in the Brukenthal Museum, this important personality is known especially for his research of Saxon, Romanian and Hungarian traditional objects, folk costumes from around Sibiu. The present article suggests an emphasis of his activity regarding the Romanian ethnography, activity less known and often ignored.
