Summary/Abstract: National economies competition depends on the development of the level of educational, traffic, energy, communicational and general institutional infrastructure of a country. In general, implementing public infrastructure projects requires large capital investments. Since governments, especially in the developing and transition countries, and companies in their ownership, can hardly obtain capital for energy infrastructure development, while they want to keep a sufficient level of sovereignty in this area, it is necessary to define some model, which can optimize its financing according to the restrictions mentioned above. It is the Design Build Operate Transfer-DBOT model that presents very widely used business concept to attract private capital for developing and implementation of energy infrastructure projects. An energy-related project should always be observed as a function of future economic development and growth of a national economy, so this paper examins the relation between economic aggregates trends and the electricity sector development of Bosnia and Herzegovina and possibilities of DBOT model application during projecting, building and operation of electricity objects in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
