Present state and opportunities for non-agricultural entrepreneurship in the rural areas of the Świętokrzyskie voivodeship

Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the current state of and opportunities for developing non-agricultural entrepreneurship in the rural areas of the Świętokrzyskie voivodeship. Owing to interviews with rural entrepreneurs, conducted with the help of a questionnaire, materials have been collected which permit to characterize the personality and demographic features of individuals engaging in non-agricultural activity. The conducted investigations have made it possible to determine their motives for taking up economic activities and the benefits of engaging in such activities. Basing on the research results the author of the paper also defines the main factors stimulating and impeding the development of non-agricultural entrepreneurship in the rural areas of the region.
