Summary/Abstract: This paper, the first of a series which proposes to study the way in which idiomatic expressions including animal names in French can be translated into Romanian, is aimed at identifying and analyzing these idiomatic expressions (IE) in order to conclude on the French-Romanian similarities or dissimilarities and on the usefulness of Romanian-IE in the apprehension of French-IE.
