Summary/Abstract: This study carries an attempt at speech acts analysis of Nigel Farage’s speech in the European Parliament. This research aims to help listeners or readers to use speech acts strategies of interpreting the message as qualitative research. The approach adopted is inspired by John R.Searle’s book Expression and Meaning, Studies in the Theories of Speech Acts (1981) that makes a difference between speech acts as Direct and Indirect. Besides, Teun van Dijk’s book Text and Context. Explorations in the Semantics and Pragmatics of Discourse (1992) pays attention to phonetics, morphology, and syntax. In conclusion, this research will apply the analysis strategy of speech acts to decode the real intentions of the extremists and the way this could influence others.
