Summary/Abstract: This study carries on an attempt of transitivity and interpersonal analysis of David Cameron’s speech during the Brexit campaign. This research aims to demonstrate the importance of Halliday’s functional grammar in critical discourse analysis paying attention to a text. Halliday’s metafunctions have the role in analysing the language functions, reflect the relation between the text and the reader, and pay attention to the effect of the message carried through cohesion and coherence of sentences in discourse. The strategies adopted in critical discourse analysis have as a framework functional grammar.
