The exhibition sought to offer a full picture of the modern Bulgarian scene; to include different genera- tions of authors and diverse media; to show the different development trends following the changes of 1989; to trace these changes with the help of the help of the different works, presented at the exhibition. The 22 artists were chosen because of the place they have in contem- porary Bulgarian art, for their concrete works that fit in the theme of the exhibition. Many of the artists had a powerful social consciousness; they were critical to the events taking place around them and analyzed them in their works. In this way the exhibition showed the face of con- temporary Bulgarian art as seen by the curators.
