Summary/Abstract: Considering the lessons identified while analysing the conflict in Ukraine and the major impact of the war on the regional and European security environment, NATO/EU countries decided to accelerate the process of strenghtening their national defense posture. Poland has assumed a leading role in consolidating the operational capabilities of its armed forces via revision of strategic planning in the area of defense and security, pledging to raise the defense expenditures in the next years and signing major military procurement deals. These developments raise the perspective of massive aquisition of new capabilites and a likely role for Poland as the main regional military power.
