Summary/Abstract: In this paper, I discuss the relationship between rare books, their owners and the scholarly interests they developed based on this material. Secondly, I tackle the question of the circulation of volumes between private, specialized libraries. The starting point is the moment when these book holdings enter the public collection, and the research path retraces the route followed by the books to their previous owners. In 1977, the National History Museum of Romania came into the possession of 174 volumes published in Greek between the end of the 18th century and the first half of the 19th century. The study of the archival material led me to establish that the books were previously in the possession of Ariadna Camariano-Cioran, researcher whose name is linked to major publications in the field of Neohellenic studies in Romania during the second half of the 20th century. Furthermore, the study of this acquisition brought out the role of family connections in the production of knowledge, through the circulation of cultural goods. Consequently, other names that marked the study of medieval and Modern Greek culture at the north of the Danube, like Demostene Russo and Nestor Camariano, came into focus.
