Summary/Abstract: In the article the author attempts to evaluate the tourism potential of some towns inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List and to evaluate its utilization. Prague and some other places with a specific character (Brno, Olomouc, Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape, Holašovice) are excluded from the survey. He does not perform a field research; however, he relies on the official data from the Czech Statistical Office and the Institute of Spatial Development. He examines the potential using the cluster analysis method. For hierarchical clustering he chooses a square of the Euclidean distance as a criterion of similarity; clustering is made by the Ward's method using IBM SPSS Statistics 21 software. He finds that these towns form an inhomogeneous group. The towns vary in size of potential, representation size of attractions potential, areas and lines potential and level of infrastructure. The evaluation of potential he performs differently from the Institute of Spatial Development which evaluates the tourism potential for example by the number of footpaths, cycle tracks, observation towers or the number of ski lifts. The author considers the number of tourists as basic characteristics. Český Krumlov excels among the evaluated towns having not only the high potential but also its best utilization by far. The lowest utilization of potential is there in the towns of Kutná Hora, Třebíč and Kroměříž.
