Summary/Abstract: Managers exist to determine goals for others and push them through all obstacles and the lack of resources available. Managers are usually people who have a natural need to lead people and have a significant authority on others. However, they do not have to demonstrate their superiority, haughtiness and infallibility. They have to be esprit forts and be aware of the fact that they are in the centre of others’ attention and each of their acts is assessed. Managers have to be leaders who can rouse colleagues to the maximum performance, they are accepted and followed by their colleagues to reach the common goal. Business practice is, I am sorry to say, often completely different.
