Summary/Abstract: The significance of communication in people’s education, self-culture and life in general is undisputable. Through the communication information is forwarded, new experience is gained, personal as well as professional relationships are created and people adapt themselves to the environment. Communication is an inevitable condition of co-operation and has an essential importance especially in a social sphere. It is one of the social worker’s skills which considerably affects the results of their work. Problems relating to the effective communication are complex and involve more issues than only the acquirement of recommended methods and procedures. Interpersonal communication is a matter of people, who are unique and have unique behaviour. The ability to accept different opinions and to be sympathetic is the essential presumption for good communication. The most common error cause is an imbalance between verbal and non-verbal part of the communication.
