Summary/Abstract: The text presents an analysis of the possibilities and limitations in conducting qualitative interviews using mediated means of communication, such as telephone and Internet communication applica- tions. The specificity of qualitative interviews was shown, the types of mediated communication were characterized and the most important conditions that should be taken into account when plan- ning and conducting a qualitative interview using mediated means of communication were ana- lyzed, referring to the literature on the subject and own research. The most important advantages of this form of research include material issues, accessibility to geographically distant people, the ability to tackle difficult topics, the inclusion of multimedia elements in research, and transcription support. The use of new technologies in qualitative interviews increases the researcher's digital competences and promotes innovation in data collection methods.
