Summary/Abstract: The paper presents a general survey of language tests written for the evaluation of technical students’ linguistic competence and administered at the end of the study of the foreign language they have chosen. Collected in a volume in 2009, before the beginning of the academic year, in the attempt to create a common system of evaluation, the tests are intended to be an efficiet tool of work and control of individual performances. Irrespective of the studied language, the tests addressing the same level reflect similar linguistic and grammar contents and the same discourse, according to CEFR. The paper is focused on the presentation of French tests, level A2, B1 and B2, administered to students from the Faculties of Mechanical Engineering, Machine Building, and Civil Engineering.
