Summary/Abstract: Scent traces have become an increasingly prominent issue in recent years. For many years, the so-called scent identification method has been used in police practice, which deals with the comparison of odor traces taken at the scene of the crime with samples taken from suspects. For a potentially successful comparison, it is first of all necessary to perform a quality sampling of these tracks. It is therefore necessary to use a suitable sorbent that would capture well and at the same time affect the composition of the scent samples as little as possible. At the moment, the cotton, commercially available fabric Aratex® is used for these purposes, which, however, itself shows a significant number of substances that cannot be fully removed by purification and thus with a high probability will invalidate the comparison itself. This work dealt with the possible replacement of Aratex® with a more suitable material, specifically an aqueous solution, which was prepared in the laboratory after sampling and then handed over to handler for so-called olfactory examination.
