On the French Loanwords in the Macedonian Language. (II) Typology, Dynamics, and the Adaptation of Loanwords

Summary/Abstract: This research aims to assess the value of the lexical element of French origin in the Macedonian language (namely, the amount of Gallicisms in this Southern Slavic language). If the first part of this contribution (“Autour des emprunts lexicaux au français dans le macédonien. (I)” Aperçu historique) outlined the geo-historical landmarks regarding the broad Balkan context in which FYROM is located, based on the assumption that the neighbouring countries played a decisive role in the Gallicisation of the Macedonian language, the second part will focus on the typology, the dynamics, and the adaptation of French loanwords (we were able to identify over 3 000 words) in the vocabulary of the current Macedonian language.
