Summary/Abstract: The beginning of the 2nd world war had a profound and essential impact in the organization and functioning of the state’s institutions, being necessary the adoption of several measures to create the legal grounds for the conduct of activities, thus the Gendarmerie went through a reorganizing process from both from a structural standpoint and the defining of duties. The Study on the Operational Missions in which the Forces coordinated by the Galati Gendarmerie Inspectorate were engaged in the summer of 1941 is the result of a research activity on archival documents within the holdings of the Galați County Service of the National Archives, the Central Historical National Archives, as well as the Central Archives Depot in Pitești. Through this study we aim to highlight the forces involved and the missions in which they took part. The Gendarmerie besides its duties assigned right after the general mobilization didn’t miss the fact that it had to ensure a safety climate among the citizens, representing a force in the defense and adherence to the law.
